Music, mainly punk and post punk, but I like a lot of current stuff too. Especially live music.
And even more especially Spear of Destiny and all of Kirk Brandon’s work.
All kinds of interesting people, especially if you're into music, well decent music anyway....(No, I'm not that narrow minded - honest!)
Spear of Destiny, Theatre of Hate, and Kirk Brandon's solo work. Nothing else is in the same league.
Some other honourable mentions: I used to be fully paid up member of the "there was no decent music before punk" club, apart from perhaps The Doors, Lou Reed, and the Stooges stuff.
In addition to Spear and TOH, I like:
The Jam, Ruts, Joy Division, Skids, Stiff Little Fingers, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, Ants, Banshees, Damned, Magazine, Teardrop Explodes, Wah! Heat (etc), Echo and the Bunnymen, Southern Death Cult, Cult, Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, Cocteau Twins, The The, Pulp, Depeche Mode, Elastica, JJ72, Portishead, White Stripes, Strokes, Muse, Editors, Arctic Monkeys, Raconteurs,
According to my Last FM account, you can ignore whatever I've just written as this is what I've actually been listening to since March 2007! Spear of Destiny, Theatre of Hate, Julian Cope, Echo & The Bunnymen, The White Stripes, Kirk Brandon, The The, The Smiths, Magazine, Björk, Arctic Monkeys, Raconteurs, LCD Soundsystem, The Hives, Depeche Mode, Deaf School, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Damned, Cocteau Twins, Manic Street Preachers, Nirvana, British Sea Power, Killing Joke, Portishead, Dead Kennedys, PJ Harvey, The Clash, Television, Wire, Tom Waits, Shelleydevoto, The Ruts, Buzzcocks, Kirk Brandon's 10:51, Howard Devoto, The Jam, Lou Reed, Jane's Addiction, Joy Division, Maxïmo Park, Stiff Little Fingers, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire, JJ72, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Stooges, Ladytron, Elastica, New Model Army, and Kasabian,
Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting. 8 Mile, Jean de Florette/Manon des Source, The Third Man, My beautiful Laundrette, The Usual Suspects, Oliver!
I could live without TV. Don’t watch it much,
But stuff I do enjoy includes Life on Mars, Hotel Babylon, and comedy such as Early Doors, Little Britain, or anything with Peter Kay. Drama such as Cold Feet, Our Friends in the North, House of Cards and This Life. Documentaries (social, political or scientific-but definitely not wildlife), and old classics, from the Goodies and the Young Ones to the Tube and the Woodentops!
Read very little in the way of books these days. Mainly read newspapers and magazines.
Best books I’ve read in recent years: England’s Dreaming( Jon Savage), Secret History (Donna Tartt) and Frank Skinner’s autobiography.
When I did have the time and inclination to read, I read Orwell, John Wyndham, Margaret Atwood ,Oscar Wilde, and S E Hinton. Not sure what I would read now!
No more heroes anymore, but a few more vids I like:
MAGAZINE - The Light Pours Out of Me
Atmosphere - Joy Division.. ..
JJ72 - Snow
