I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm Jay - a fuzzy 'lil goth/rock boy from Wales (but no, I'm not a "spooky kid" and I don't do "designer darkness").

I play guitar and bass and I'm currently working on a solo CD.

I'm not a musical snob like a lot of people and I like what I like without caring what people think about my tastes. I don't like stuff just to be part of the "in crowd" or pretend not to like things for the same reason.

Professionally I work as an IT contractor through my own company doing software development and web design.

If you'd like to add me as a friend and I don't already know you, I'd a appreciate a quick message just to say hi so we can keep the friend-whoring down to a minimum :) Thanks!

My Interests

Music is a big part of my life, although I much prefer playing to listening to it. I like nothing better than getting home, warming up the amp and giving the guitar a good seeing to (well, I'm single, so what else?)

Yes, yes, I know, I'm a bit of a computer geek but it pays the bills so I can't really complain all that much.

Music:

My tastes in music are pretty wide ranging - from metal through blues to even, yes, I admit it, some chart pop stuff. I don't "do" trends and I like what I like whether that's percieved as cool or not. You should get enjoyment out of music otherwise what's the point huh? :)

My "what I'm currently listening to" changes pretty frequently depending on what kind of mood I'm in but I guess these are some of my favourite bands and performers:

Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Type O Negative, Metallica (yes, including some of the new stuff), White/Rob Zombie, Rammstein, Green Day, Offspring, Distillers, Epoxies, Wildhearts ...

Movies:

I'm not your typical goth when it comes to movies - I don't really like horror :) My imagination can be disturbing enough on it's own without needing anything to seed it! I much prefer a good comedy or animation. Something you can just kick back and enjoy without a lot of effort and come out feeling happy.

Television:

Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Dads Army, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, QI, Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, Bottom.

Books:

I'm a big Terry Pratchett fan and love the Discworld series. I've got all except the most recent book (which hopefully I'll add once it comes down in price ;))

Heroes:

Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Slash
