Lian Jie (Jet Li)

My father died when i was two and my mother who was very protective sent me to the Wushu academy at age 8. I participated in the martial arts of wushu (non-sparring). later, i began a martial arts career as a member of the Beijing Wu Shu team. As a member of the team, i received martial arts training and went on to win 15 gold medals and one silver medal in Chinese wushu championships. In 1974 at the National Athletic Competition i was the broadsword gold medalist, with optional empty-hand form gold medal,and all-round gold medal. in 1975, i took part in the third Chinese Wushu Championships where i earned a gold medal in long fist forms ans spear silver form. 1977, i participated in the National Wushu Competition with long-fist form gold medal and broadsword form gold medal. in 1978 i won gold medals in long-fist form gold medal, optional empty-hand form gold medal, broadsword form gold medal, and all-round gold medal. finally in 1979 i went to the Fourth Chinese Wushu Championships earning a long-fist form gold medal, optional empty-hand form gold medal, broadsword form gold medal, sparring form gold medal, and all-round gold medal..
