Moria

THE DEMO IS FINALLY OUT! BUY IT TODAY (PLEASE?)!

About Me

MORIA'S DEMO IS NOW COMPLETE!! YOU CAN BUY THEM TODAY (THROW US AN E-MAIL). This half hour long demo, entitled "Nocturne", was recorded rather quickly over the course of 2 days (due to budget issues) at Avante Studios in Winnipeg. It was recorded and mastered by the amazing and awesome Dave Miller. "Nocturne" will be available for purchase in A2G's online store soon (www.a2grecords.com/store.htm). -----Moria started out as Shadowcast in 2003 (grade 9+8), and went through other styles such as thrash and melodeath before becoming a progressive death metal band sometime in 2004. Moria is influenced by many different genres of music from metal to rock to classical to jazz. Although Moria's sound is primarily metal, these other influences have become more significant by adding a more soft and melodic feel to many parts of Moria's songs. Moria's old songs (aka "The Warlock") show a much more "Swedish melodeath" influenced side of Moria, however, their metal influences have since branched to prog, black, power, and death metal (aka "Veil" + "Eclipse Eternal"). -----Moria's older and newer progressive influences (Dream Theater, Symphony X, Porcupine Tree, Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Camel, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, etc.) have become just as significant as their metal influences (Opeth, Necrophagist, Death, Devin Townsend, Extol, Amon Amarth, old In Flames, etc.) by adding various prog elements such as longer songs, odd time signatures and scales, mid-song guitar/bass/drum solo's (check out track 3 on "Nocturne"), jazz and classical parts, and spacey/psychedelic guitar effects. -----Moria's songs, although usually very long, are non-repetitive and are written slowly and vigilantly to include as many of the various influences and original aspects of Moria's sound as possible without creating an overly epic or monotonous atmosphere. The 4 very young musicians (now 18 and 16 years old) in Moria are striving to excel technicality in their respective categories (having a very diverse influence base), as well as achieve their own mature style through the use of unique writing and playing techniques. Moria's main goal as a band is to create a unique sound that will stand out in the huge metal scene and show people that outright speed and heaviness, unpredictable and emotional melody, and technical prowess can coexist to produce a progressive death metal sound that covers the music spectrum.
