About Me

*Herbal Circle was formed out necessity, a necessity to play and create music. There are so many things that contributed to the creation of this band that it would take books to tell it all. In reality, all things before Herbal circle are not relevant, Herbal Circle is what is now. With a description as far as “weird”, and “A gorilla with three legs- half postured with two center piece portions of some fine Bamsadalla Gullies”, it is clear to say we are not your average garage band, in fact we don’t even play in a garage. ****Beliefs are what make this band. Many Many Many different beliefs, but one central belief, that if we come together, we will be able to create something truly special. The colors that come from our individual pallets are that of which have not been seen around Richmond in some time. A calculated yet sometimes ravenous guitar, being coaxed be funkin you up slam style bass rhythms, all of which getting a crucial kick in the ass by a 4 limb foot and fist drum attack. We also have guest appearances from pholks like resident mouth jammer: Josh “Lumbo” Hunter. ****Nothing music is sacred. We have the notion any music can be played if it suit’s the situation. This gives us an element of change, as we try to arrange each show so that it fit’s a new glove, and reaches new heights. Live music is there for two groups, the players, and the listeners. This is why we try to stay in tune with our playing, whilst staying equally in tune with the crowd. ****If you take it way back, before Herbal Circle had drums, it was just bass and guitar. In late 2006, Ryan Taylor and I (Jeremy Smith) came to the realization that we were not a band if we only had two members. So over much contemplation we inducted David Piedmont into the band. This was essentially when Herbal Circle became truly official. We played a RoCKiN new years show to kick off 2007. We even got paid $250 for a grand opening gig at the Just Drums store out in Midlothian. ****The only thing still snagging our minds, was not having a drummer. We had tried out a couple of the drummers available but nothing ever seemed to materialize. It seemed fate had other things in mind, when along came one the better drummers this side of Richmond, Adam Wawrzyniak. We had played with him on previous projects, so it seemed like the most comfortable and logical choice. The band has been on a constant rise ever since. ****Of course things cannot always be made of silver and gold, and though we had formed a brother like bond with our boy Dave, the confines of the band with each members contributions, were just too much (our colors were really crazy back then with all the different material). Sadly David and the band split ways; but a new phoenix would rise from the ashes in the form of David Piedmont’s current project Triple Stack Jack. ****So after a few awesome farewell shows with Dave. The remaining members now settled roots into the new line-up. A power trio of sorts, we began playing all kinds of different venues: parties, Coffee Talk, bars, Rocks, more parties. Just honing our skills and trying to build up new material. By summer of 2007, we were a band reborn. After about a month in the Hanover Music Company studio, we finally had something to show for the years hard work in the form of a three song demo. We finished up 2007 strong with shows at places like Alley Katz, The Triple, and a killer New Year’s show at Mr. Nagel’s house. ****2008 has been good to the band. We’ve played some more shows at Alley Katz, and scored a show at the Canal Club (Thanks to the Matt Koon Foundation), along side numerous shows at the pool palace, The Triple. Young a ready to RocK we love showing Richmond what a new generation of music heads thinks Rock should sound like. Opening the “doors of perception” to see that music, like water, can form to any position. Herbal Circle’s Debut album will be releasing in 2008, so tell all your phriends and phamily. Herb Circ will also be making all kinds of appearances around the metro-Richmond area. So if your in support of the Local Jam, come join us for fun and great music. After all, it isn’t an Herbal CIRCLE without you in it.*HC March 1 2008 Canal Club

Sounds Like: "The Herbal Circle: What is it REALLY? Is it a mysterious hideaway in the middle of the Caribbean? Maybe a gorilla with three legs-Half postured with two center piece portions of some fine bansadalla Gullies.Or is it a movement? A circle is found in many different parts of society and culture. A peace sign shows a circular dimension, thus crowning the mood of the Herbal Circle with pos i tive vi bra tions. So now what are we left with? Nature. First ask yourself 'What is the definition of nature?' What is Natural? Aren't the sounds that make you want to separate yourself from yourself and be as free as your mind will allow natural? Surely you can take nature into your own hands and do what you please with it, but placing it inside a peaceful vibration sequence creates something closer to the everyday natural vibes we experience. Through music. Through yourself. Through The Herbal Circle." ~*Eric Morton*~ This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!
