From the sound stage to the silver screen she is reaching for the stars. The road to success is paved with trials and tribulations - obstacles and GREATNESS for this complex simplicity we call Blufox. From playing a wife, receptionist, junkie (believe it or not), or just the girl next door Blu is knockin down doors with her style, driven by inspiration received from veteran actors she's worked on films with and a strong determination to do well in the industry - both acting and music. "I thank God every morning, and as I close my eyes for bed for allowing me to pursue my goals in both acting and music. I recognize that I have been given the gift of song, and the ability to invoke emotion and I'm grateful to have both.
When you start your career working with the best in the business, then find yourself performing alongside industry veterans in front of 30,000 people all within the same year, you have to believe your career is destined. This is the unimaginable fairy tale of Blufox, a soulful songstress who laces her alternative lyrics over the rhythmic and rebellious strains of Reggae music.
Blufox says her love of Reggae started from the womb. Though born in Queens, NY to a Jewish father and a Jamaican mother Blufox was and is a definite product of her enviroment. Growing up in Nassau County, Long Island she immersed herself into reggae, rock/alternative, r&b, and hip hop music. Her Jamaican mother steeped her in the roots and culture, sending her home to country often. As a child her musical talents were first noticed when she kept getting solos at school and in the church choir. Her mother then supported her daughters dreams with music and vocal lessons, and her father pushed her into having a basic knowledge of site reading and provided piano lessons in their home. Years later after college, the Air Force and a brief time as a radio personality in Washington, DC , Blufox found her way back to her music. She was plugging away in local New York venues when fate walked in the door dressed as a family member who introduced her to Sly & Robbie (the Grammy Winning Producers with songs including No Doubts "Heh Baby" and "Underneath it All" and Cyndi Laupers "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"). The rest is music history. It is not often that a newcomer to the industry gets to sit court with Alternative and Reggae royalty, but Blufox soon found herself in the studio with long time producer /musicians Sly & Robbie and Morgan Heritage.
After performing at the Bob Marley Music Festival Tour in February, earning a spot at Sumfest in the summer, returning for Bs Explosion Concert on stage with Beenie Man, Bunny Wailer and Buju Banton, then wrapping up the year touring with Sly & Robbie on their 25th Anniversary tour.
Does Blufox feel pressure working in the studio with Reggae and Alternative legacies? I feel blessed. I dont feel pressure at all. When it comes to Morgan Heritage, they expect the best and Sly & Robbie developed me to be the best so I cant complain at all its perfect.--(CV Magazine - Next Up)CHECK OUT WWW.NYCASTINGS.COM/BLUFOX
