Trevor Kamplain’s stylish, foot-tapping project instantly teleports its listeners to a hipster party full of hot, indie girls and fashionable boys bobbing their heads as they discuss current music politics.
“NH pretty much started out as a way for me to publicly embarrass myself by entering into complete nerddom on stage and sweat out harmful stress toxins. I had just overcome a very tough year, and felt the need to do SOMETHING with music. Other bands weren’t working out. I really had no other option,” says Kamplain.
This force behind Night Hawk creates edgy, French-influenced pop which reflects Kamplain’s love of 80’s groups like Hall & Oates, chanteuse Kylie Minogue, and various IDM artists.
Kamplain has decided to shape up his music and adopt a new goal of incorporating more dance and more basement noise. “You can only dance around on stage like an idiot and play sub-par keyboard solos for so long...I have had to force myself to take a step back at times in the writing process and simplify the song structure. I am so used to geeking out in my room, amped up on coffee all day, and throwing down a lot of sporadic sounds. Having this new goal is really forcing me to focus and consider two existing genres as well as an audience.”
Expect Kamplain to turn out Night Hawk’s new album sometime early 2008, and be ready to get your dance on.

Straight from the band: “The song ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ was written on the road when I was doing just that. There was a very special person I was leaving behind, and the song is an ode to them. That song also has plans to be used in a travel-themed TV show pilot called Go Sleep Go that was recently filmed. It’s based off a website run by a couple good friends of mine (gosleepgo.com).”
