La Vida
The lives of five perfect strangers, worlds apart, created musical synergy when Baldo, from Paraguay, working and living in Reno, met Marrio, a former boxer who left Kansas to look for new horizons. Together with friends Baldo and Marrio started jamming and writing music, which developed into a funky fusion of Latin melodies and rhythms with soulful hip-hop and rap. When Kris, who was playing drums with a popular Latin hard rock band, joined the group; lifted the energy to exhilarating levels. Excited, they continued to write the music that made them feel alive. Soon their sound attracted Daniel, who, after touring with a Peruvian Jazz Band, moved to Reno looking for adventures. He joined the band and added his jazzy smooth touch to the music, making the groove even groovier. When all these elements where in place, Junior, a former soldier and Iraq veteran, brought his steady bass to the mix, and make the fusion complete. The music of Drinking with Clowns is most influenced by the life experiences and personalities of each band member. They draw inspiration from the world and it’s music. They mix the sounds of such bands as Los Amigos Invisibles, Ozomatli, Kinky, Soda Stereo, Snoop Dog, Tupac, Bob Marley, James Brown, Micheal Franti and many others.
