I'm more like a secret, but now I'm ready to be revealed. Many people don't know that much about me in the music world. Hopefully you will be getting to know about me soon. I'm getting back focus on my songwriting and working out to enhance my Supastar status. Until then, check out "Lakishaology", which is my bio, as I develop and begin to shed my cocoon and evolve to that illustrious phenomenon.

Signed,
Lakisha tha Supastar

The Beginnings of a Supastar
Growing up in the Uptown area of New Orleans, LA, Lakisha began singing around the house for family and friends at the spunky age of 7. For Lakisha singing was a source of enjoyment and expression. She was born the youngest of 5 children from her mother--the Late Ora Lee Crawford, who inspired her to share her musical talents by auditioning for school plays, beauty pageants, arts and dance teams. Lakisha attended Kingsley House Early Headstart where all her creativity as a child began. Noticing her beauty and potential for stardom, Ms. Dorothy, a Kingsley House teacher, placed Lakisha in various beauty pageants where she won 1st place in two categories consecutively for 2 years! Attending Laurel Elementary School, Lakisha was noticed by dance and music instructors, Mrs. Lee and Ms. Price. Impressed by Lakisha's audition, Mrs. Lee then asked her would she like to try out for the school's dance team--the Eaglelettes. After the first year, Lakisha gained her spot as one of the Captains of the Eaglelettes by the 5th grade, where Ms. Lee took her by the hand and taught her to "use the spotlight as your energy". Using that wisdom, Lakisha was destined to make her mark and blaze trails in whatever she engaged herself in--be it modeling, singing, or acting.
The Development of Supastardom
As Lakisha approached middle school, her interest in music developed into a passion to pursue her dreams. Feeding off her love for music, Lakisha was lead to join the Live Oak Middle School Choir where she sometimes found it difficult to fit in. Contrasting the soft mellow sounds of choir music class with her powerful voice, the choir instructor, "Mr. Watkins", found it challenging to properly place her in the set structure of the choir with such a "big" voice. Being multi-faceted, soon after Lakisha decided to cultivate her talent for dancing. She tried out for the school's dance team and excelled through the ranks to Captain of the Lionettes by her 8th grade year! Lakisha received many accolades and trophies for her achievements and success during this time. She has many mentors that helped inspired her passion for the arts.
The Fire That Forged Her Greatness
Diamonds are nothing more than charcoal put under heat and pressure--something soft, black, and delicate transformed into something strong, precious, clear, and of extreme value.
Lakisha's high school experience was typical of most teenagers. Attending Walter L. Cohen High School in New Orleans, LA, she began tryouts for cheerleading where she was met with opposition ,almost immediately, from other cheerleaders as a result of her confidence, intimidating beauty, and dance skills exhibited at the tryouts. Intimidated by her beauty and exuberant confidence, the other cheerleaders made it difficult for her and treated her unfairly. The envious captains went to such great lengths as to order Lakisha's uniform two sizes too small. Deciding to be wise instead of engaging in unnecessary conflict, she parted from the cheerleading organization. Lakisha joined on with the Hornettes dance team where she was met with similar opposition. She was unfazed by the "hateration", but was appalled by the "horrifying" uniform and refused to compromise her principles of qualitative standards for fashion and style. Standing on principle, this open offense to fashion made it easier for her to walk away and to pursue other interests. As Lakisha evolved, other aspects of her talent began to elucidate. One day while she was "kicking it" with some friends, she noticed her friends' eagerness to go to "rehearsal". This peeked her curiosity. She asked them, "What type of rehearsal were y'all going to?" Her friend, Kendra, urged her to follow them. The rehearsal was at Sixth Baptist Church on Felicity. It was for the youth church choir. Initially, Lakisha was hesitant. She perceived the church choir as a body that sang old spirituals. To her surprise, the choir was fun, educational, with discipline and Unity, and best of all, spirituality. Joining the youth choir began the true harnessing of her vocal talent and skill.
Later in her life, Lakisha fell in love and made a decision that would change her life. She decided to pass an offer to begin a modeling career in New York City. Unfortunately, due to the fact that she was a minor, her mother didn't want her to go. Also, her boyfriend at the time encouraged her to settle down to begin a family and asked for her hand in marriage. She gave birth to a handsome boy, Joe'Kuis, and a beautiful girl, La'Keishane, who were born 15 months apart. Some thought this would end her career for good... Boy, were they wrong! Although she had a stormy relationship with the biological father of her children, she became an example of what God can do--in spite of what circumstances may come in life. After the relationship with her children's biological father ended, she fell victim to a near-fatal car accident leaving her with a crushed hip bone in which she had three pins put in place in order for her leg to function properly again. Lakisha was told that she "could not walk again without correctional shoes". Of course, being the strong-minded woman that she is, Lakisha decided to let God have the last say. With a lot of faith and determination and a supportive therapy staff, she rehabilitated her legs to proper health. Now she can walk like a model, walk it out, and do dat souljah boy! ~Now watch me, youuuuuu! LMAOThis situation brought Lakisha back to her roots--Sixth Baptist Church. This is where she began to re-cultivate her love for singing, and most of all, her relationship with God. Although she practiced her singing with the choir, with difficult life circumstances, Lakisha thought that the possibility of rekindling her modeling/music career was on hold and eventually , she gave up...In 2002, Lakisha had undergone severe blood-loss due to hypothyroid complications which caused her to lose 50% of her blood. The doctors was surprised that she was still alive. The hypothyroid complications also caused excess weight-gain. This was a traumatic and nightmarish experience for the up and coming superstar. Due to several blood transfusions and overnight stays in the hospital, Lakisha wound up losing her job. This began a domino effect causing her to lose her car, her home, and her mind. However, her faith in reading the word of God led her to believe that this was a temporary condition. She could not help but to wonder though: "How can I be homeless with bills?" Although she was homeless, no one knew--except those that God put in place to help through this storm.. She still kept herself and her children together. She had to travel from place to place, but Lakisha and her children were always well-kept. God is good--All the time. While undergoing these consecutive trials, Lakisha turned to writing songs as a form of personal therapy that helped her to take her focus off her problems and put it on what's most important: her dream. She began writing songs like "Tryna Do Me (c)" which celebrates Lakisha's uniqueness and pride in being distinct as opposed to "following the crowd", "Throw Love Darts at Hate (c)" which expresses the sorrow of family disunity and the importance of forgiveness, "Woman's Intuition (c)" which exhibits the power of the woman's spiritual third eye that can sense a lover's misdeeds and can be a guiding force that women should harness and pay close attention to, and "Don't Stop Doin' What You Did to Get Me (c)" which is about keeping love and affection consistent, fresh, passionate and never allowing them to dwindle. In 2003, Lakisha met an enterprising young producer, by the name of Johnny Quest, through a mutual acquaintance. He was a member of the rap group 51/50 , who had produced the track "Get Money" which Lakisha sang the hook for. Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Katrina, Lakisha had lost contact with Johnny Quest, and the materials she recorded were also destroyed in the storm. In 2004, Lakisha had auditioned for "All The King's Men" starring Sean Penn and "Last Holiday" starring Queen Latifah and LL Cool J. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, displacing thousands all over the US. Lakisha and her family fell victim as well. Although this knocked her down, it did not knock her out. In fact, it made her want to pursue her dream more. She began to rekindle her fight against the effects of hypothyroidism by returning to her exercise and dietary disciplines. She aggressively progressed her modeling career. She also re-initiated her discipline of channeling her experiences in the form of song. The Supastar can be summed up in the immortal words of P. Diddy: "Can't stop. Won't stop."Hurricane Katrina not only postponed her career plans, but also postponed another dream: her wedding. Lakisha was supposed to have married the man of her dreams in October of 2005. She was very disappointed because she had put so much effort, time, and preparation for the wedding. The location where the wedding and reception were supposed to be held was utterly destroyed, and the participants of the wedding , as well as family and friends, were scattered throughout the US. This was an extremely stressful moment in the Supastar's life. Nevertheless, with her faith in God and her commitment unshattered, she was Blessed to have the wedding of her dreams on September 2, 2006. In fact, the wedding turned out exceeding her expectations! Everyone from all over the country came to celebrate the Big Day with her.
Can't Stop. Won't Stop.
Determined to achieve her goals, Lakisha continued with her modeling career. She has been posting her photos on Myspace for her legions of fans to see. As a result, Lakisha has been receiving recognition from photographers, record labels, talent scouts, and modeling agents. She was offered many deals, but being the critical thinker that she is, she turned many of those offers down. She felt that they were not in her best interest. This was until she came across an opportunity that fit perfectly into her scheme to conquer the world with her unmatched beauty. She was offered a chance to be picked as one of the top 10 models of an up and coming modeling magazine called Cushin Magazine. She's teaming up with renown photographer, Renaul Hill, to turn the plus-size modeling world on its ear!
On Her Grind
On February 18, 2008 Lakisha flew to North Carolina to make her debut on Cushin XL Magazine to adorn it with her sexy sassiness and irresistible beauty. She has also been requested by several producers to lend her unique voice to some of their hottest tracks. She is currently working with the dynamic rap group "5th Flow", courtesy of Pink Slip Records, star-producer, Byron "Legion" Hudson, courtesy of Legionnaire Entertainment. Lakisha has invested her time and money in perfecting her vocal skills and enhancing her songwriting capabilities.
