About Me

What's up yall, I see we're half way through the year. My name is Mario aka Blacmav. I'm a composer/producer/pianist/drummer, looking to collaborate with artists/DJ's who enjoy creating good music... here goes the list... hip-hop, alternative, experimental, house, soul, progressive jazz, down-tempo and oh yeah... more hip hop.I compose this music to mentally and someday physically escape the day-to- day rat race. I do this for those gifted who never took that chance AND most of all, It's for who crave more than what mainstream entertainment offers currently.Born in Washington, DC, I grew up listening to great pioneers of soul, gospel and blues music. At age 14, I started singing in a youth choir at my home church. This came at a time of puberty, so my vocal abilities as tenor weren't that great. A true baritone, I found it difficult to 'fit in', but I began building confidence in my own talent by harmonizing with the young ladies whenever possible. After singing in my H.S. concert choir, I personally felt I discovered my ticket out of an uncertain path in life. This took me to Virginia State Univ., where I realized my passion...yet shyness of singing in front of others (yes, stagefright), the piano became my new found joy. Student loans, working to live and the reluctance for teaching brought about my transition into beatmaking. In March 2000, I beagn using a casio keyboard and dual tape deck, which I would overdub ideas, using many tapes to create some good tracks. Since then, I haven't looked back. Some may say that I am crazy, leaving college w/ 1 yr. remaining and decent grades, but I choose to follow my heart. Seven years later, a developing sound and life's lessons...here we are now.Myspace has become useful in my musical endevors to conquer the ears of many. Copies of my newest installment are moving of "Blacmav presents-In perspective Vol #2". As activity continues to develop from word-of-mouth sales, I will most likely drop a couple of units here on myspace. (holla back, Tom!!!) I am also re-releasing the classic EP that started it all, Blacmav presents-In perspective Vol #1. Just so you can get a taste, I will update my songs with tracks from both projects in promoting my 1st full length LP, scheduled for release later this year. The title is tenatively named "9 to 5". Also, I'm putting material together for a house project, titled "The Roscoe Wiggles Dance Project" (alterego). Once completed, I will showcase some of that stuff too. Please comment freely about what you hear and contact my personal e-mail to reserve a copy of either project.Inquires can link me at [email protected] Leave your contact info and I'll be in touch. Check out my tunes, feel free to post your comments and please refer others to checkout my page. Thanks to those who have shown me love so far. Respect earned. Here's to some good music for everyone. I'm workin' hard and got my hands in alot yall. until, gone...mav
