About Me

"The Day After" now on iTunes! Click to preview!

I first picked up the guitar when I was eleven years old. My mom has been playing since she was sixteen years old and just from being around her and the guitar my whole life, I just had an ear for music. She taught me the basic chords but what really got me started was when she taught me “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. After that, I would stay up every night playing the song over and over until I played it perfectly, then I would go to bed, even if it took me hours. After a few more songs my mother taught me I began to drift out to explore different types of music, flying solo on my musical adventure.

There were times where it seemed just to hard to compose my own music, but through teaching myself and exploring many different genres of music, I began to grow a sense of what sounded good to me. I like to play the acoustic guitar and write instrumental songs because there is more to a composition than just the words. The music is the foundation of any song and can create feelings even without lyrics.

To this day, composing music is a phase, weaving in and out of creativity like trying to tune your guitar. The strings will stay in tune for a while but you have to keep re-tuning them and then you can play. Once I get in phase, the pieces just fall together and I have something of my own that I can perform and enjoy, and that others can listen to and enjoy.
