Argonath

Scottish Warrior Metal

About Me

"Argonath remind me just why I love metal so much, in a bang-yer-fuckin' head sort of way." - Calum Harvie (Zero Tolerance)
"They're one of my favourite unsigned bands at the moment and they're a bunch of great guys, their music reminds me of a cross between Manowar and Dimmu Borgir." - James, Total Rock Radio
Tell us what YOU think of Argonath!
Argonath are a Scottish Warrior Metal band, hailing from Glasgow. Established in 2003, they have been described as “a cross between Dimmu Borgir and Manowar”, blending black, power and folk metal with their own unique attitude to create a signature sound.
Thanks to regular gigging, the band have built up a devoted following in the Glasgow area, and in 2007 are looking to expand their horizons as far as possible throughout the country. Material is currently being written for the new “Rebellion” EP, to be recorded in thte first quarter of 2007. The band are seeking live dates all over the UK to promote this CD, following on from their excursions south of the border in past months. The Argonath live set has been acclaimed by all who have experienced it, and is guaranteed to get heads banging and the mosh pit boiling at every show.
The band’s sound is spearheaded by the twin guitar assault of Shaun Nelson and David Anderson, complimented by the extreme vocal versatility of John McDade. The rhythm section consists of drummer Steve Scott and bassist Kyle Macquarrie, who drive the songs with a strong foundation of galloping double bass and powerful blastbeats. It is the emphasis on well crafted songs, however, with lyrics inspired by Scottish history and mythology, that truly shows the band’s strengths.
Argonath has become a familiar name in the Scottish scene, thanks in part to high profile support slots with bands such as death metal legends Dismember and infamous Norwegian black metallers Carpathian Forest, among many others. The band has experienced several lineup changes over the past few years, but the current lineup is definitely the strongest yet, and all the members are looking forward to capitalising on their past success.
A UK tour is in the planning stages for spring 2007- if you are interested in booking Argonath, or want to learn more email the band at [email protected] or send us a MySpace message. See you on the road!
