Dhruva is a producer, DJ, and percussionist from New York's Sub Swara crew and San Francisco's late Dhamaal Collective. He has played worldwide as the featured guest at many an event, playing shows from NYC to London, to Goa, to Black Rock City. Dhruva's tracks and DJ sets weave the rich traditions of global culture through pounding beats, bass lines and electronic soundscapes that defy genre. Over the next several months, look out for tracks from Dhruva on the Freek Factory Compilation (Volume 1: The Balance -- Dhruva contributing the title track), a dub step joint (co-produced with Dave Sharma) on The Agriculture label, remixes for DK (Goonda) and State of Bengal (for his new album SkipiJ), and the highly anticipated Sub Swara debut album (late summer-early fall 2007).
In his earlier production days, several of the tracks on the Dhamaal Soundsystem album (debuting in the top 20 electronic albums chart on I-tunes) and the Dhamaal 12" Transitions EP featured Dhruva's production tactics. He has also remixed the mighty Saul Williams and Asian Dub Foundation.Dhruva is currently spearheading the Sub Swara monthly club residency in NYC with co-conspirators Sunder, Haj, DJ Nasha, Pictureman and MC Juakali. The SS Monthly is in its second bin shaking year and has been visited by many of the worlds top ground breaking artists artists including FreQ Nasty, Cheb i Sabbah, Lorin (Bassnectar), State of Bengal, Deekline, Hyper, The Glitch Mob, Ooah, edIT, Nerm (Shiva Soundsystem) Sonik Gurus, Bobby Friction and Nihal, Swami, and Visionary Underground and has been touted as one of the best new club nights in New York by Timeout and MTV.
