Alltime greats to me are Stripes, Animal House, and Silverado. I love those. I also couldn't stop laughing at Grandma's Boy. Recently, I have seen several films including Apocalypto--- good but violent, Night at the Museum--- entertaining family fare, Rocky Balboa--- unexpectedly a treat, Little Miss Sunshine--- an engaging film with some bizarre twists, The Good Shepherd--- a film that kept me in my seat with realistic tale telling excellent performances, and so on....
Though I don't get to watch any series with regularity, I loved watching Deadwood on HBO and currently enjoy LOST on ABC and My Name is Earl on NBC. Usually, I can't resist a rerun of the old series The Rockford Files; James Garner was too cool. Television is awesome, but it should be viewed in moderation since it will suck all the energy out of your brain. The Eastern philosopher might refer to it as a Chi vacuum....
My alltime favorite is still A Confederacy of Dunces. Currently, I'm reading about three books: a collection of Sherlock Holmes mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, an old Doc Savage novel, and Spoiled Rotten America by Larry Miller. In the recent past I have read The Time Machine (again) by H. G. Wells, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Blackstone by Richard Falkirk, Return of Sherlock Holmes by Doyle, and Thunderball by Ian Fleming. I'm also reading a copy of a book by Christopher Moore of "Fluke" fame.
My heroes are my parents, and, believe me, they are SUPER heroes. My father died two years after battling cancer, and it still makes me sad to think that I didn't spend more time with him. My mother still works and, though she is many miles away, I always know I can count on her... for anything. If she can do something that will help me, she will go out of her way to do it. My father was the same way. That is the way all parents should be. Kids shouldn't just expect stuff from them all the time, but if they're needed they should be there. Kids should do the same for the parents, though, too.
