The Life and Times of Kevin Jones

About Me

I'm 28 (at time of going to press), from Coventry, possibly the single greatest city in the world. Although I live in Cov, I work in Loughborough Nr Leicester. I’m a massive Cov City fan and a football (and England) fan in general. I’m also a huge cricket fan and follow the England team with fervor.I’m not all about sport though, I have an unhealthy appetite for cooking, and wish I’d found out earlier so I could have gone in to it as a career. I also dabble in gardening, but I’m also not all house husbandesq.I enjoy eating out and in, days out, the countryside, long walks, films and the pub.I like to think of myself as a purist when it comes to music, having gone through my teens and early twenties listening to Brit Pop and rock music, guitar based music is ingrained in my soul paying particular attention to Blur, The Bluetones, Shed Seven et al. But there is room for the classics too; I’m listening to a lot of Tracy Chapman, Elton John and Barry White at the moment. This profile was edited with MySpace Help - Profile Creator and Editor MySpace Profile Help!

My Interests

I've covered most of them. Football, cricket, sport in general (although it doesn't rule my life), going out, staying in, fresh air oh and traveling. I’ve been to some far flung places, and hunger for more.

I'd like to meet:

I'd really like to meet Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon to kiss the ground they walk on (Alex James and Dave Rowntree will have to settle for a manly handshake). But I'm not sure this is ever going to happen. In terms of people who I might actually be able to meet. Nice people, I’m fed up of people who aren't nice.

Music:

Nineties brit pop and rock was my staple growing up. Although I like to think I’m still down with the kids and listen to many of the bands around at the moment. Coldplay, Keane, Blink 182, Greenday etc. I'm really not in to most things created inside a computer and listen with distain to some of the plinky plonky dance music that defiles the charts (until there is one I like). I'm also a big fan of old school artists such as Beach Boys, Elvis, and Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac etc. It's an eclectic mix.

Movies:

I'm open to most genres of film, if it’s good, it’s good. Although I have never seen a good film that has been labeled a "Chick Flick". I stand by the claim that there has never been a Bad Bill Murray film, although Lost in Translation pushed that theory to nearly breaking point.

Television:

Sport is always good on TV. I'm a big lost fan and The Discovery Channel gets a good working out in my house. Without doubt the best progamme ever to grace the cathode ray tube (or plasma or LCD if you’re modern) is Family Guy. The single rib crackingly funniest program on TV.

Books:

I try to read high brow books, but never get very far. I read a lot of Dick Francis when I was younger for some reason, although I have never really been in to horses. I like a John Grisham from time to time. The funniest book ever written would be a toss up between Time for Bed by David Badiel, and Stark by Ben Elton. Also despite the blatant non research and passing fiction off as fact in most of his books, Dan Brown writes a storming thriller, with Demons and Angels being his best. For educational reasons, you can't go far wrong with a Bill Bryson travel book, and his mammoth A Short History of Absolutely Everything, is a book to behold in very high regard.

Heroes:

I always think people sound really pretentious when they spout off heroes like Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King. So here are mine. Nelson Mandela (Politician) - A true icon in standing up for what you believe in. Martin Luther King (Civil Rights Activist) - Without him the work would be very different. Ricky Gervais (Comedian, Writer, actor) - No one has made me laugh longer or harder. Kevin Smith (Writer, Director, Actor) - The man behind Jay and Silent Bob, will the man inside Silent Bob. George (Curtis) and John (Sillet)(Coventry City FC Managing Director and Head Coach 1987 FA cup winning side) - Enough Said Keith Houchen (Former Cov City Footballer) - Scorer of the winning 1987 cup final goal, possible the best FA cup final goal, in the best FA cup final ever. Colin Jones (My Dad) - The man I never knew, I hope to be the man he would have been one day. Lyn Jones (My Mum) - The best single parent at being two parents ever, she should be very proud of what she did.
