What's Your Personality Type?
Your Taste in Music:
80's Rock: Highest Influence
90's Alternative: Highest Influence
Adult Alternative: Highest Influence
80's Alternative: High Influence
80's Pop: High Influence
How's Your Taste in Music? All forms of music....but acoustic music in particular...just hearing the slight scrape of fingers along the strings or hearing all the tonations of the notes in a person's voice excites me. Performing bare bones really requires practice and dedication and defines the meaning of talent. I also enjoy jazz & soul music ....Otis Redding, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Jimmi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Elton John, Billy Joel....singers that really bleed and put out their emotions when they sing. They are people that have experienced pain, rejection, down times in their lives so the elevation of emotions that they feel when they express feelings of pleasure, happiness, love, enlightenment, realization....overcoming the pain to find a greater and more intense understanding of the joyful emotion....these ring true with my soul. Although those values are at the top of my list, I also appreciate music for music's sake.....such as dance music and some pop. I think that more mainstream "fun" music is perfectly fine, as long as the artists don't try to make it something that it's not and try to give it some deeper bull shit meaning that was obviously not originally there. Of course you don't want to admit that you just thought it sounded good and you liked the beat.....but don't lie and make up some shit. I can also really get into powerful rock music with lots of lead guitar and an energy charged beat....sometimes metal is an necessity ...you can often find the new rock station on in my car. So long story short...I am a big music lover!
*As for more recent music selections, some of my favorites are Gavin Degraw, John Legend, Aslyn, Georgia, Alicia Keys, Michelle Branch, and Nora Jones, Maroon 5, Colplay*
I am a fan of films that convey the human experience . A director that I think does that very well is Tim Burton. I haven't seen a movie of his that I didn't like. Artistically and music video wise I enjoy the work of Mark Romanek. He is most known for the videos that he did for Madonna, NIN, No Doubt, and most recently Jay-Z....he also did the newest I-Pod commercial with U2...MARKROMANEK.COM. I just really enjoy his cinematography and style. As for other titles, some of my favorites are: Almost Famous, Mallrats ("I am going to screw her somewhere very uncomfortable" "What? In the back of a Volkswagon?"), Clerks, The Royal Tennenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Donnie Darko, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Quills, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Cabaret, Centerstage, Company, Open Range, Spiderman, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, V for Vendetta, Hedwig and the Angry Inch .....and much more. I know that is a very strange combo. But that's me.
Don't watch much tv....but when I do I like VH1, A and E, the History Channel and TLC
I am more of a short story, non-fiction type reader. I've read lots of books during my academic career, but I usually have to listen to a tape along with the book to get through it. Just definitely more of an auditory learner. I am very interested in the concepts and ideas in books, I just rarely have the concentration to sit down and get through them. I am always welcome to a discussion about books that you have read though....I always like to hear other peoples ideas.
My grandfather. He instilled in me many of the values that I hold dear. My sister Kimberly who was tragically taken from us this Thanksgiving. She means the world to me and has inspired me to never give up on my dreams.
