About Me

My name is Christie. I teach sixth grade math in Statesville. I didn't see myself teaching middle school (I'm certified to teach between Kindergarten and 6th grade), but I'm happy with it. Yes, middle schoolers can be crazy and there are those days I don't think I'm going to make it through, but I love my students. They teach me something new every day. I learn more about life, trust, relationships and emotions from them.

I grew up in Statesville and moved to Gastonia when I finished high school, so I'm very happy to be back in town now.

well, i've already met her thrice.. well, five times if you count the two times i saw her when my best friend was pregnant... ok make that six since she came to visit my school and see me one day. this is Emma, my Goddaughter. That word is rather lengthy, so she can just be Emma and I can just be Aunt Christie. She can't say that yet, but when yesterday she pointed to the fish tank and said, "ish!" and when I said "hey girl" she said "hey" She just turned one! This picture is from 6/11/06So nevermind about her not being able to say Christie. I called and talked to her mommy on around Aug 1 and she said, Emma do you want to talk on the phone? She handed her the phone and she said "Say something" I said "Hey baby girl" and.... drumroll... she said "Cwitie!" Amy quickly pulled the phone away and said "Did you hear that? She said your name!" And I said "She said my name!"
UPDATE: Amy and Emma (and of course Robby) have moved to Georgia! I'm glad they're closer. It's still 7 hours away, but at least I don't have to buy a plane ticket to visit. I am planning on bringing Amy and Emma here to visit for a week this summer while Robby is deployed.

I love to read, I just haven't put anything here yet. But just so you know, I love children's lit, latin american lit, mystery and fantasy, sci-fi and horror and anything that makes you think. And obviously, let's not forget the most important book of all- the B-i-b-l-e!

Heroes:

My mom, my grandma and my great grandma. My best friend Amy is my hero too, because she has had such a hard life and she still perseveres! I'm so lucky to have her that I put her on speed dial! (Mom and Great Grandma are on speed dial too)
