About Me

I love: my dog, knitting, made-for-television movies and other paragons of bad taste, Hugh Laurie, doing laundry (I know I'm sick), Cadbury cream eggs, stuffed peppers from Chez Lulu, chips and salsa, diet coke, the pool, erotic photohunt, jammies, and my family and friends.I don't love: mimes, having to pay for parking, flying, running, olives, being cold, misspelled items on a menu, ferrets, Chad Michael Murray, and Fox news.

My Interests

Softkey Left softkey Right Reading, writing, knitting, board games and trivia, finding new restaurants or dive bars, playing with my dog (Cassidy), making up office/apartment complex gossip when the days get long, the lives of celebrities, and improving my credit rating.

I'd like to meet:

Too tough - I've always preferred my fantasies to reality.

Music:

Ryan Adams, David Gray, Pat McGee Band, Don Henley, and if they were on "American Idol," I probably love them (especially Kelly Clarkson). And, before you say anything, I am fully aware of the fact that nothing about my musical tastes makes me cool.

Movies:

Anything with Bruce Willis, Big, Bring it On, Ten Things I Hate About You, The Shawshank Redemption, Terms of Endearment, Ordinary People, The Way we Were, Steel Magnolias (yes, I'm a crier), Anything with Rob Schneider, Old School, The Royal Tenenbaums, Made in Heaven, and Notorious.

Television:

House, Medium, Law & Order, Scrubs, Without a Trace, CSI (Las Vegas or Miami, please, no New York), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Quantum Leap, Wings, Friends, and Cheers.

Books:

The Lovely Bones, Dry (anything Augusten Burroughs), Jane Eyre, The Sound and the Fury, The Optimist's Daughter, The House of the Spirits (anything Isabel Allende), Anna Karennina, Fathers and Sons, The Great Gatsby, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Peace Like a River, Looking for Alaska, A Widow for one Year, Naked, There's a Monster at the end of This Book

Life as a Stage Mom

Because I am somewhat unhealthily obsessed with my dog (hey- you try being single and living alone without having some attachment issues), I decided to enter Cassidy in Birmingham Magazine's cutest pe...

Life Without Cable

Sunday night, as I was desperately trying to sleep and my two doses of tylenol pm were not working, I stumbled upon the 2 a.m. movie on the WB. Now, earlier in the day, I had watched some rather stran...

Trials and Tribulations

As I was running my usual errands (you know - the Dollar General, prescription refills, reading all of the tabloids at Books-A-Million but not buying them, etc.), one of my worst nightmares happened -...

No Wonder it Takes me so Long to get Ready in the Morning

There used to be a time when I would tell people, all breezy and whatnot, "I am so not superstitious. All of that stuff is just silly."That time was long ago. And, while I might not necessarily be a cr...

My Life as a Couch Potato

I watched a full episode of "Two and a Half Men" on Monday night, and I can't say that I'm not more than a little bit ashamed. However, I truly must confess that watching the program alone isn't what d...

Reason Number 457 I Must Have Children With Someone Far Less Emotional Than Me

This morning, I woke up way too early and couldn't fall back asleep. (6:30 a.m., which is long before my normal getting out of bed time of 10.) And, being restless and angry that I couldn't sleep, I n...

Woody Allen Burns me Again

I should have known not to trust him. I really should have. I should have recognized the fact that even though "Match Point" received good reviews, I have yet to like a Woody Allen film (other than "A...

Distractions

I feel like I had all of these important (or, at least, important to me) things to write about today, but then I made the mistake of watching the Ellen show before coming in to work. (Not that it's ge...
