Create Your Own! ____________________________________________________________ _ ____________________________________________________________ _ ____________________________________________________________ _UPDATE: 2006 has been packed with new adventures, new jobs, new houses, new friends, and blossoming relationships. Although I still daydream of California's breathtaking scenery, good food, great wine, and amazing friendships, not to mention the close proximity of my parents' cozy house and the ski resorts, I left my heart in Texas last summer and needed to come home. Yes, after an almost year-long, exciting run in Silicon Valley, and following one of Jason's many visits, and several romantic walks down the beach under the Santa Cruz sunset, we decided to move forward with our relationship. For those of you who do not know Jason (who I warmly refer to as “Jase”), he is a 6'2', broad shouldered, green eyed hunk who looks remarkably like a cross between Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. He is a brilliant, hysterical, outgoing, inquisitive, adventurous, sweet, musically talented, successful, loyal, cuddly man that has been a significant part of my life for the better part of 2 1/2 years. Regardless of the fact that he is a yankee from a corn field in Illinois (wink!), I love the guy deeply. This summer (which included a road trip across half the country, a trip to South Padre, and a trip to New England) Jason and I purchased a 42 acre farm outside his hometown in Illinois. As there is a 360 degree view of rolling green hills, with only one house in sight (about a mile away), we thought it would be a lovely place to retire. Further, about 35 of the 42 acres are tillable, which we'll likely lease to surrounding farmers that actually "farm." In mid-September, we moved to a beautiful, spacious, brand spanking new townhouse inside the loop (Houston). I have taken a controller position for a biodiesel company (making fuel from soy been oil, etc) and work near the Galleria. I have been at this company for about 3 months now and I have never been happier in any job in my life. Not only is the work challenging and the executive management world-class (my boss is a former two-term Chancellor of Texas A&M), I can go home every day and feel further rewarded in the fact that I am doing my part to remove dependence on foreign oil with a renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. Go farmers!____________________________________________________ _________ ____________________________________________________________ _ ____________________________________________________________ _THINGS I LIKE: I like skiing black diamonds; throwing a double play from second; watching the sun set from a sailboat; listening to live classic rock with a cold beer and old friends; stargazer lilies; having a glass of wine in a country I've never been to; watching my company's stock go up; big family holidays; history; watching it snow as I'm huddled under a blanket at my dad's house...eating chili and watching the 5th episode (in a row) of Tivo'd CSI; dancing with a man that really, really knows how to dance; BBQ-ing on a sunny Sunday afternoon; flying...anywhere; watching my Golden, Jake, as he waits with anticipation for me to throw his kong as hard as I can into the woods; diving in the sand to save a volleyball; shopping; friendly intellectual debates; the waves crashing and the wind on my face while galloping an empty beach on a horse that likes the same thing; the water-colored Texas sky in April...behind Austin's rolling green hills, bluebonnets and paintbrushes; passionate, meaningful kisses; being continuously challenged; uncontrollable laughter; doing things that really scare the crap out of myself (such as skydiving); shooting stars; the smell of my grandparent's house; and chocolate.__________________________________________________ ___________ ____________________________________________________________ _ ____________________________________________________________ _THINGS I WANT TO DO: I want to surf in Hawaii; ride a canopy zip line in Costa Rica; scuba dive in Fiji; ski the Swiss Alps; see Mount Rushmore & Niagara Falls; hike the Half Dome in Yosemite; climb Mount Shasta; play golf with my dad at Pebble Beach; water-ski in Sri Lanka; drink cocktails on a beach in the Greek Islands; take a cruise in the Mediterranean; see a pyramid in Egypt; learn to play the piano and guitar very well; ride on top of an elephant on a safari in the Himalayan region of India; ride the Steel Dragon 2000 and the Dodonpa in Japan (world's best roller coasters); see the next total solar eclipse (August 1, 2008) in Canada; whitewater raft The Fu (in Chili) and The Upano (in Ecuador); go to Carnival in Brazil; see a 30-foot wave in Cortes Bank; stay in a thatched traditional fale in Samoa; go whale watching in Iceland; and swim with dolphins in the Canary Islands.
