About Me

YUNG HOLLYWOODIn an industry filled with so many illusions of the next superstar, a clear distinction must be made between the talented and the gimmicky. The realness of true art and the deception of false potential. The cocky and the confident. But maybe it is that illusion that sparks the interest of the fans in wanting to know if they have chosen the next people’s champ. That flair. That swagger. That unique style. That little extra something that speaks to the audience proclaiming, “This is it. They’re the one.” Record label representatives have become casting directors, searching through all the potential talent for that one that will make their production, their picture and their vision complete. Their next franchise player. Someone Yung. Someone Hollywood.Daenelle Keon Duhaney, aka Yung Hollywood, was born on September 11, 1983 in Trinidad eventually to a single family home. Instead of using his other half leaving as an excuse, he used it as a reason to find a way to make himself a better man for his future. Forced to experience first hand struggle of his friends and his own family, he quickly learned for himself what life had become for many people. From watching the poverty overtake his friends into having to borrow food to seeing fellow students with no books because of the lack of funds. But instead of adhering and becoming a part of the struggle, he used his surroundings and his culture as a means to mold himself into a unique artist. Music had always been around him from his brothers and cousins to the radio and TV. When he was 10 years old, his siblings took him to a Nas and Foxy Brown concert in his native country which sparked his interest in wanting to become a lyricist/hip hop artist. His music evolved around the struggle rather than the typical bling and gangster rap, adding an element of relateability with his fan base that quickly lead people towards his style which became a unique blend of Trinidadian culture and hip hop flavor. Initially, Yung Hollywood was influenced by DMX and the Lox, his first cd and eventually by the Wu Tang Clan. It was their krunkness while still bringing their life experiences and struggle into their music. He eventually developed a group called P.O.L, Proud Of Living, with his two brothers and a friend who began recording their own tapes in the basement of their home which caught the ear of a local producer, Lani D, and DGAC production. P.O.L. eventually grew apart as his two brothers decided to do their own thing and his friend became a solo act. But Lani D took him under his shoulder as his own artist and in 2004 signed him with ABM Entertainment. His style has sparked the interest of many producers and fans, incorporating a versatile flow of storytelling, club bangers, and love songs. He also ghost writes R&B songs for other artist based on experiences of his sister and his female friends and their perspective on relationships and love. His talents have lead him up and down the east coast performing in Virginia, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and New York as well as in his home country of Trinidad. Clubs throughout Manhattan and Long Island have become accustomed to his presence having graced the stages of Club Speed, Tracks, Intrigue, Tabu, Soup, and Londys. Turning stage presence into an art form with his crowd involvement, feeding on the energy that he builds in the audience to zone himself out in performance. Events in his life have had a direct impact on his life having been told that he is only in his early 20’s, but has over 40 years of experience to write through. His good friend was shot and killed after bearing his newborn in the winter of 2005. Yung Hollywood took it upon himself to provide a better life for his friend’s child as if she were his own, which has given him the motivation outside of the vision of wealth and fame, to succeed. He is creating a movie reel of pictures through his words and on stage presence. On the verge of living the American Dream through his music. Even through the constant struggle, Yung Hollywood is learning that his talents, unique blend and style of music from cultures unfamiliar to most fans and level of showmanship, are key to his continued success. That hard work and determination is what it takes because Yung Hollywood knows that “the show must go on.” ..
