Shoc

Shocs place of rest is when he is laying down a beat. The God-given talent was birthed when he discovered how to play Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star on the xylophone by ear at six years old. His parents immediately put him in piano lessons. The piano teachers would always comment that Shocs ability to play by ear was phenomenal. Winning first place at piano competitions growing up made him realize that he had a gift that was rare. From grade school to high school Shoc picked up on the drums and found his second gift of rhythm extremely fast. The itch to combine his two talents together ended up in convincing his dad to help him buy a Korg Triton Pro. At age sixteen Shoc was now experimenting with production with his new Triton not knowing that in three years he would land two of his thick tracks on two nation-wide selling CDs.
Belmont University called Shocs name to Nashville, Tennessee for his interest in the music business. The first semester he attended, he made the contacts needed to land his first appearance as a programmer/songwriter on Lunchtime of EMI Gospel artist Lil iROCC Williams debut CD. The adrenaline Shoc got from iROCCs project increased when he received a phone call in his dorm later on that semester to produce a remix for tobyMacs song Extreme Days. There were other producers who would also be remixing Extreme Days but only one could be picked. Shoc nailed the remix with a thick brass bouncing melody and beat-heavy drums carrying the rhythm. Patiently waiting for the next hot track to produce, God had something stirring up that would change Shocs life forever.
Shoc had made contact with a singer/songerwriter named Beckah Shae in October of 2003. The two instantly connected with their musical gifts and talents and started working together on music consistently. Along that time, God was using Beckah not only as an incredible singer for His glory but also as an accountability partner to Shoc. God used Beckah to bring Shoc closer to the Lord in ways He needed to in order to proceed into the next season of Shoc and Beckahs life. Shoc and Beckah fell in love and got engaged in May when the Lord literally placed an engagement ring in front of the two, which they had been praying for 2 weeks earlier. They got married on August 15th, 2004. The two lovebirds flew off to Cancun for their honeymoon, which was another miracle that God did along with the other hundred for the wedding. The two would come back home to find out God had more in store.
He also produced Beckah Shaes 16 track album titled Butterfly. Shoc and Beckah established their own record company named Shae-Shoc Records, Inc. You can make many plans, but the Lords purpose will prevail (Prov. 19:21). Without the Lords way, we are lost. Im humbled that He would choose me to possess such a talent, Shoc concludes. We are made to worship Him in everyway that He shows us how and music is just one part of that.
