I love music, literature, art, politics and humanity. I read a lot, mostly fiction, and love to go out dancing and to concerts. I also love to write. I can enjoy a good movie as well, though I'd rather go to a concert and dance.
I love music. My favorite artists are Etta James, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Warren Haynes, Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, Bessie Smith, Bob Marley, Joan Osborne, Susan Tedeschi, the Indigo Girls, Ryan Adams, Kevn Kinney, James Blunt, Amanda Ghost, Toshi Reagon, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Carole King, Gov't Mule, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, the Beatles, the Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, and most blues, rock and folk music.
Foreign films and dramas.
It's on mostly in the background but I do like a good drama or comedy here and there. I've been enjoying South Park this past year too.
I love to read. I read novels, historic novels and occasionally books about people who explored the world in the late 1800's, early 1900's. I like reading about people and their lives, especially women. There is a rich tapestry of contemporary female writers who have shared their ordinary and not so ordinary lives with the rest of us over the past 30-40 years or so. Their contributions aren't taught in the schools, but they have made the world a better and more interesting place. Men certainly have something to say as well, though their voices are more often amplified. I like to listen to the undercurrents; the voices of the dissidents, the rebellious and the dreamers.
My uncle Joe and my maternal grandmother.
