Influences: Pete Rock - The most influental of all producers. He has spent a lot of time digging for samples and putting sounds together that make sense. He has made some of the most classic hip hop joints which have left their mark in peoples lives.
Dr Dre and his drums
Scott Storch's composing ability and known piano riffs on many albums stemming from Dr Dre's to every artist he has touched.
Timbaland's amazing producing of R&B, Rap and Hip Hop its. His drums are really interesting, and his style is highly influential, with the ever changing hip hop world.
Kanye West and his amazing sampling ability. Being able to cut really known samples and make totally new songs. It has been starting to play out as Kanye opens his mouth more and more. As long as he keeps his mouth shut and behinds the scenes, he will shine.
Cool and Dre for making their dope hits including the Game, Fat Joe and so on. Both of those guys do everything from playing the piano, to singing in the beats, and all of it.
Dj Premier and his diggin for samples and looping them. He has a good ear for what hip hop needs in its samples, and where they need to be looped. Although he uses the same drum kit (mary jane drum kit) and patterns from his drums tend to be the same, the samples bring the song along and make you wanting more.
Elbe Kim For inspiring me to focus on my composition and how to start layer by later to make some dope sounding beats. Along with spending endless nights searching on youtube about making beats and how other people do their thing.
9th Wonder for being the first blown up producer known to be using Fruity Loops. Everyone has always dissed you if you used FL b/c of the stock sounds and synths it comes with. What people don't realize that if you dig for your own samples, and get some phaat ass plugins you can use the Fruity Loops strong Composing ability to make your songs. As what 9th Wonder shows, with his dope samples, how he chops them up, and makes some of the greatest underground beats and even mainstream known.
OutKast for just being different and coming with that different ATL sound. They are a really innovative group, and are the ones you would see in school starting all the trends. You could tell by listening to their music how much times goes into diggin for beats, innovating their style, clothing and videos.
Zion I for coming clean on what real hip hop is and always sounding fresh. Amp live has that ear for positive and truthfull hip hop samles and displays them on the many albums they have produced together. With all the real instruments being played and how big of a production guru Amp Live is, highly influences my style.
Dj Shadow for not only his dj skillz but always on the search for soo many samples for his production. When you hear a beat played by him, you can tell this cat spent soo much time digging in the basements of record shops, garage sales, flea markets, and so on, that the beats catch on.
These are the people I could think of off the top of my head, there are more, and i'll post more up soon.
