we first lived in birmingham, alabama, which is why i am a huge crimson tide football fan.... roll tide
after 2 years in alabama, we moved to boston for another 2 years.
we then moved to the chicago area where i would stay for another 18 years. i went to university at loyola university chicago and really fell in love with the city.... but i craving to see the world.
i moved to tokyo after graduating from loyola and taught english for a year. my main reason for going to japan was to learn about the culture and the language. unfortunately i wasn't able to learn japanese at the pace i wanted, especially since i was in an environment where english was the main language being spoken..... collegues would only speak to me in english, and my students naturally wanted to speak in english.
i quit my job after a year and enrolled into sophia university 's jli program, an intensive japanese language program which had me learning japanese 5 days a week from 8am to 3pm. along with my frineds in chicago, i met some of my best friends in japan.
i travelled extensively through out asia and made many friends along the way.... some of whom i have lost touch with through out the years, but hopefully i can find them here on myspace.
after japan i moved back to america to look for work. i didn't want to lose my japanese so i began to look for a job with japanese company. while interviewing, i was often told that the company wasn't interested in a japanese speaking american and that they were looking more for a english speaking japanese.
a few months after interviewing with several companies, i got a call from a classmate of mine from sophia. she was working in production making commercials and music videos for the japanese market. i interned on speed's precious time music video and have been in production since 1999.
i'm currently a production manager/offline editor. i have worked with several american and japanese talents.
i have worked on several commercials and music videos, as well as some magazine shoots. i have also been fortunate to direct a japan airlines commercial.
