About Me

MySpace Editor

MySpace Layouts MySpace Editor Icons Collage MySpace Graphics Photo CollageINTRO - The career as a musician has spanned a cornucopia of musical experiences – musically and geographically. These experiences range from a long list of live performances, studio work, radio and T.V. spots. Bandleading, sideman work and instruction have been and are part of this giant musical equation.INFLEUNCES - Consumed by such influences as Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Miles Davis, and Led Zeppelin – just to name a few. He focused on the electric guitar for about 7 years and then additionally pursued the bass guitar, fueled by such influences as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, and Oteil Burbridge. So, for the last 9 years guitar and bass (mostly guitar) have been the national pastime. Bill Stone and Don Linke, two of Joey’s previous instructors, helped Joey out in the early years with lessons at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music from 1995 to 1997. Most importantly, however, is the year and a half that he spent taking some key lessons with mighty Fender artist/clinician, Greg Koch, starting in 1994.STYLES - A versatile style of playing has opened up the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of live performances, private affairs, guest appearances, radio, and television spots. Having played on a number of studio recordings as a sideman and bandleader, Joey’s studio chops offer a lot to any session. Stylistically, Joey is very well versed in rock, blues, jazz and country chicken pickin’, along with other styles of guitar. Manipulating effects, different approaches with gear, and sounds through guitar and bass are also part the abilities. Slide playing and open tunings are also part of the deployment of sonic tools.EXPERIENCE - Joey has played with approximately 50 groups over that last 18 years spanning an estimated 1500+ (and counting) shows and performances spanning the country and about 500 guest appearances, with numerous groups. There are about 100 shows per year, as of right now (give or take a few each year).CURRENT GROUPS/ARTISTS/INSTRUCTION - Joey is currently playing guitar with "No Quarter" (Led Zeppelin tribute band), and bass with Milwaukee based rock band "The Cocksmiths" Also leads his solo projects using guitar, bass, Moog bass pedals, and Theremin. Projects in the works include releases by Willis, Moloko Shivers, and Blank Radio. Joey is also a guitar and bass instructor of 25+ students.
