BIO 2007 Q3
Rise a Thousand has been around since 2005, fusing old loves like metal and hardcore to blare out a loud, melodic rock, which far surpasses the current crop of metal bands. Creative, original and accessible, the band is capable of attracting the full range of alternative rockers – they’re not about categories. Purity and authenticity will always come first for Rise a Thousand.
The band started out building their live reputation, and within no time, Rise a Thousand was on stage with some of the bigger names from the genre: Poison the Well (USA), 36 Crazyfists (USA), Saosin (USA), Silverstein (Canada), Hell is for Heroes (UK), Johnny Truant (UK) and Face Tomorrow (NL). The band has rocked at some of Holland’s leading venues like the Melkweg (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht) and at the impressive Powerfest (with Ignite) in Tilburg’s exclusive rocktemple 013. Gigs they’re justifiably proud of.
During the second half of 2006, the band pulled back to concentrate on their recording sessions. They recorded three songs for a demo. The new recordings are tight, dynamic and passionately persuasive, and with the tracks under their belt, Rise a Thousand will rock its way through Benelux three times in 2007.
Quotes
"The guys of Rise a Thousand came, saw and kicked ass!"
(VPRO 3VOOR12/Utrecht)
"'Screamo-metal' is the term the band - rightfully - uses to describe their music. We're not talking chaotic music and a whole lot of meaningless screaming here, instead the words 'fast', 'extremely loud' and 'super tight' comes to mind. If you promise your crowd to impress, you have to do just that and give it your all, and that's just what Rise a Thousand does."
(VPRO 3VOOR12/Arnhem-Nijmegen)
"Rise A Thousand put down a solid emo/metal set with a lot of energy. This five-piece band has all the right stuff to turn into one of Dutch leading bands in this scene."
(Hell of Fame)
"The band played a solid and tight set and they actually managed to play decent like they do on their free download demo. [...] If this band will continue to develop their sound and stage performance we might even see them at some of the (smaller) summer festivals this year."
(Metalrage)
"[...] a performance to enjoy! [...] never a dull moment."
(Popcall)
"Tight metalcore with screaming vocals [...]"
(Punksquad)
