Altera Enigma: Progressive Metal Fusion

About Me

"A fun side project of some very technically proficient musicians . . . Very cool and even surprising stuff."
- HM Magazine (America)
"I feel this band has great potential to becoming one of the leaders in the genre. This is a very good album that deserves a lot of exposure . . ."
- ProgNaut.Com (America)
"Right from the start you can tell that this disc is different and yet special . . . And the lead guitar work . . . simply breathtaking. These guys are almost too talented for their own good."
90/100 -Whipping Post (America)
"The longer you listen to this album, the more absorbed you become . . . a breath-taking interaction of jazz key boards and Heavy Metal guitars . . . Jason De Ron and Jeff Arwadi are, in my opinion, outstanding artists, who have already proven their talent."
-Powermetal.de (Germany)
"Alteration" turns out to be an excellent example of when true musicians dare to make something different, and do it well . . . it seems to us one of the most interesting and original albums. Amazing Work!"
- Del Otro Lado Metal (Argentina)
The album, with a running time of 53 minutes with 9 tracks range from the epic, nearly 10 minute long heavy progressive metal of the song Enigmatic Alteration to the Jeff Arwadi written moody, memorable and darkly melodic Pasivitas Sudut Pandang. Songs like Relating The Transformation and Through Glass, Darkly showcase the bands roots in heavy metal while Fading is a flowing, soulful instrumental full of conviction and emotion.

Altera Enigma is the Jazz Fusion influenced Progressive Metal/Rock band of Jason De Ron (the former guitarist of Paramaecium), Jefray Arwadi (guitarist and vocalist of Kekal) and Kenny Cheong, a Jazz Fusion bass player who plays 5 string fretless. These musicians have a career that has seen them record and released nearly 20 albums between them.
Altera Enigma utilizes modulating time signatures, rich Jazz-Fusion inspired chord progressions and memorable, emotion driven melodies, and expressive, stunning lead work. Always conscious of melody and utilizing tight, powerful arrangements, their music takes listeners on an aural journey via sophisticated harmony and elaborate, engaging rhythms. These musicians draw on the complexity of instrumental bands like Liquid Tension Experiment and Gordian Knot, the energy of Heavy Metal bands such as Iron Maiden, and then fuse it with the emotion and sophistication of Jazz Fusion to meld their music into a fascinating, emotive, energetic journey via the listeners ears, mind, heart and soul.
