March 9th, 2008, Rob and I went out to the sand dunes with our friends. Our first ride out turned out to be the ride that would change our lives forever. We went over a hill that we thought was a "step up" but was really a crator on the other side. We slammed down hard after flying through the air. After the dust cleared, the driver had a bloody face, Rob hurt his back, but was able to climb out of the car, but I was stuck in the back seat with a broken back. Thank God I could still move my legs. I had a T12 burst and L 1,2,3 Fractures. They fuzed 6 disks in my back, but I am able to walk. 5 days after surgery and just a week after I broke my back, I walked out of the hospital. I am home now, and am starting my long road to recovery. All of my friends and family have been so wonderful, I am truly blessed. Thank you for all you have done! I can still say that right now, I'm the happiest I've ever been. I have the greatest boyfriend in the world, his name is Rob. He is my angel, my rock, my everything. I love him with all my heart. He just seems to make everything better just by being him. He makes me laugh and smile constantly, especially when he whistles the song to the Toys 'R Us commercials. Or when he screams like a crazy person or sings opera in the shower (but not very well). I just love love love that man. I'm a huge dork and have a quirky personality, which is why I guess Rob and I get along so well. I'm enjoying this whole "growing up" thing. I've done some stupid things, made HUGE mistakes, and hurt the ones I love. But there comes a point when you have to pick yourself up, change your ways, and be a better person. That's where I am in my life. I'm trying to be the best person that I can be. For me. At times, I find myself sitting back and really taking the time to acknowledge how far I have come, appreciate where I am, and look forward to where I am going.
