CORRECT, PROPER, EXACT, FACTUAL, PRECISE = T.R.U. A TRU lover of anything music, Ashley "TRU" Ward, has been learning the ropes of the entertainment industry since she was twelve years old. She made her first appearance at a local skating rink, where she took the audience by storm with her freestyle battle rap. Anxious to test her skills for a larger crowd, Tru entered the Battle of the Bands and took home the 2001 title. This win was the catalyst that turned a young girl's rap dreams, into a career worth pursuing. She went on to open up for and tour with artist such as; Ashanti, Fat Joe, Mario, Monica, and Aaron Carter. Now seven years later, Tru is nine-teen and still at it. Her music not only includes her rap skills, but also showcases her melodic singing voice. Over the years she has put hard work into developing herself into a well rounded artist. She is classically trained in Italian, French, and Latin Opera and has now turned her focus to mastering the piano and acoustic guitar. She fuels her passion for dance with training in Hip-hop, Modern, and Jazz dance techniques. Some might say she has been trying to "Break into the business" forever, but TRU says, “I have been trying to become an excellent musician forever. That takes time, patience, and hard work."
