About Me

Out of a thousand and one emcees, you can count on your fingers how many there are out there like Peezy. A proclaimed professional reporter, a former high school and college football player and a father of three girls.Unlike many stories you've heard of emcees struggling to make it, this particular one shares an interesting story of how he came to be.From joking around and rhyming with friends at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky to getting a football scholarship and recording and in college dorm rooms is only part of his story."I started taking rap more seriously when I looked at it as competition," Peezy said. "When I went to college, the music scene in hip-hop was really poppin' off and we had DJs who became popular just off of parties."By the time Peezy's senior year rolled around, being an emcee became his passion. Suddenly going from recording in a dorm room and passing out his first mixtape on campus, he finally got into a professional studio and began branching out on his own. Although music became his first love, there were plenty of ups and downs he experienced along the way."There were these 'so-called DJs' where I went to college that were interested in playing local cats that already had made a name for themselves. Nobody really reached out to me to see my potential so I said fuck it."Taking a break from music made him pick up another hobby- drug dealing. Upon graduating from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2005, Peezy fell into the popular lifestyle of getting easy money."I was on my way to an journalism internship in Atlanta and I failed a drug test," he said. "It was the most dissapointing and embarrassing moment of my life. I knew I had to change my ways."And he changed for the good.Moving to Huntington, W.Va. Peezy landed a reporting job as a professional reporter but didn't let that get in the way of his music career."A lot of people, what I called (Hataz) wasn't wit' it because I got a job and still was doin' shows wit' the best of the local cats they have to offer in H-Town, but I'm still doin' my thang."Peezy has since launched his own independent record label "Blood Money Recordz" and opened up for acts such as the Ying Yang Twins and others."If you ain't got a hata in ya life, then you must be doing something wrong because that's they job. I ain't goin' nowhere and I'm here to stay whether they like it or not."His latest project is a debut EP for Koch Records titled, "I ain't gotta like you."Stay tuned to see what happens next.
