Talent, attitude, drive and edge: she is a multi-disciplinary artist with
a voice, an image and a brain; a songwriter and vocalist who communicates far
beyond motion and music. She sings, she dances, she rocks: Meet Tammy Fey.
Millions
of concert goers already know this: as a featured dancer in the extraordinary
Justin Timberlake FutureSex/LoveShow Tour, Tammy Fey has entranced audiences
with sizzling onstage turns with the pop superstar that have raised the temperature
in arenas from Boston to Brisbane. Spotlighted on an HBO special shot at New
York’s famed
Madison Square Garden, in interviews and performances, Tammy Fey’s sparkling
on camera charisma illuminates the screen.
Between dates on the Timberlake tour,
Tammy Fey has been sequestered in Los Angeles recording studios, translating
her vision into hook-laden pop songs. Working with a skillful team of producers,
she channels her imagination into lyrics and melodies that wrap around the
beats, push the grooves and fire the possibilities. The songs frame real life
scenarios: fun, parties, romance, and yes, sex. “Being a girl my age
in this business, you have to be sexy,” Tammy notes. “I love being
girly, dancing, being a woman. But I pride myself on being sexy, not trashy.” Named
after Tammy Wynette, the queen of country who once carried her onstage, Tammy
Fey is from “The Rodeo Capitol of Texas,” Mesquite. “I was
known for crazy hair,” she laughs. “I was a cheerleader and I studied
dance four nights a week, took singing lessons and entered competitions. When
I was 15 it all came together: music and dance.”
Only two years later after graduating
a year early from high school, Tammy was in Los Angeles and already had an
agent. Her first professional gig was a Blink 182 video; she’s worked steadily
ever since. Even though she’s acclimated to Southern California, her Texas
roots are evident. “I’m very big on where I came from,” what
about “I am very of proud of my journey. I’ve had a lot of friends
who got caught up in L.A. – I’m fortunate to have friends and family
to keep me grounded. Many people don’t have that.” What motivates
Tammy Fey is the talent and tenacity that has already transported her from a
small town to the world’s most illustrious stages and into the consciousness
of millions of prospective fans. “Everything happens for a reason,” she
avows. “How many people have had the opportunity to travel the world with
the top artist?”
Style, substance, soul and success: as Tammy Fey envisions
the next phase of her career her mantra is quite simple. To entertain
fans, meet new people, and let every emotion come through onstage,” she
concludes. “What could be better than that.” -Dan Kimpel
