About Me

What's good! I am the epitome of Hip-Hop. Hip Hop is not just a music artform but a culture. It's a way of life and I represent that 24/7, 365. I know what you are thinking but contrary to popular belief, my name Hash has nothing to do with a certain narcotic that Snoop Dogg loves. It was actually given to me by my roommate in college because I would eat corn beef hash everyday. Soon other people started calling me Hash and the name stuck. I've taken part in all of the 4 elements of Hip-Hop but ever since I heard scratching for the first time when Grand Mixer D. ST did it on Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" I gravitated towards DJing. When I actually saw DJing for the first time by DJ Premier in GangStarr's first video "Words I Manifest" I knew that DJing was something I HAD to do and it's been my passion ever since. I focus on the art of turntablism now but I'll always have respect for DJing because it's hard to rock a party for hours straight. My DJ influences are DJ Premier, DJ Magic Mike, DJ Scratch, Jam Master Jay (RIP),Grand Mixer D.ST, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, DJ Kool Herc, DJ Revolution, DJ Babu, Invisible Skratch Piklz, X-ecutioners fka X-men, Beat Junkies, DJ A-trak, and all DJ's and Turntablists who know what Hip-Hop truly is and are preserving the Hip-Hop culture. CD turntables are dope but we need to save vinyl. Don't let vinyl die!!!

My Interests

Listening to music, DJing, watching videos ,reading (and not just magazines), working out, church, videogames, teaching myself to play guitar ,watching TV, movies, eating (that always puts me in a good mood), women (God's greatest creation), helping family and friends, and sleeping which ironically I never get enough of.

I'd like to meet:

God, all of my family members that passed before I was born, DJ Kool Herc (The Godfather of Hip Hop and inventor of break-beat deejaying), Jam Master Jay, and all the other DJ's and individuals in the Hip Hop community alive and deceased that have inspired me.

Music:

Create a playlist with this song on imeem
Hip Hop and some rap (there's a difference), Neo-Soul, Jazz, and R&B(preferably R&B made in the 70's and in the early 80's) are my favorites but I LOVE all music. For example, it's nothing for me to listen to A Tribe Called Quest, Jamiroquai, Portishead, and Red Hot Chili Peppers at any given time. There are too many artists that I love to be able to list here. I would need to do a top 100 but my favorite group of all time is Gangstarr.

Movies:

Juice, Scratch, Rize, Krush Groove, Friday, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Enter the Dragon, Matrix, Training Day, and Game of Death (which was actually wack but seeing the added footage of Bruce Lee fighting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar which was the last scene shot before he died makes this movie a classic).

Television:

Lost, The Boondocks, Survivor, Law and Order: SVU ,Robot Chicken, The Game, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Hell's Kitchen.

Books:

The Bible (NIV), The Purpose Driven Life, Beats, Rhymes, & Life (What We Love And Hate About Hip-Hop), The Book of Hip Hop Cover Art, The Wu-Tang Manual, The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke, Understanding the Purpose and Power of Men, The Life and Death of a Hip Hop Legend-Jam Master Jay the heart of Hip Hop, Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists, The Five Love Languages, and alot of other books that I haven't opened yet or finished.

Heroes:

God, my grandmother, parents, Kool Herc, Grandwizard Theodore, DJ Premier, Jam Master Jay and anyone alive and deceased who is/was about uplifting our community
