About Me

Starting her music career at the tender age of five, Carrie Jean Sooter gave her first public performance playing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Lilttle Star" on the voilin. Twenty years and countless performances later, she is still on stage, this time with guitar and music she writes herself. Inspired by ex-boyfriends and working 9-5, Carrie's lyrics take a unique twist on the ordinary:"When you fall on your face/and you feel like such a disgrace/ Hold your head to the sky/ and laugh out loud, I am alive."

"Writing music and then singing it for people can be magical," Carrie says. "There's something in the air."

There certainly is. It's a Muscle Shoals mixture of gritty blues, country and folk with a voice that is pure and hits the notes effortlessly. Carrie Jean Sooter regularly performs at venues throughout New York and Tennessee, including Pete's Candy Store and the Bell Buckle Cafe. She resides in New York City.
