Azriel's Curse is a five piece band from the greater Toronto Area. Since breaking out into the Ontario underground scene in early 2006, AC have gained a reputation for their intense live performance, a very unique sound and an interesting writing style. They have found their own way of blending brutal energy with melodic influences, to create something beautiful, and yet very powerful. In just over a year they have shared the stage with many great acts including: Ligeia, Arise And Ruin, A Textbook Tragedy, Cain and Abel, Callahan, Dear Jane i, Del Asher, Gorgitron, The Holly Springs Disaster, Lives of Many, Liferuiner, Lions, Seconds To Go, Shotgun Rules, and Ten Second Epic.
The roots of Azriel's Curse date back to late 2004, when Guitarists Chris Murphy and Daniel Peachy began writing and rehearsing together. After over a year of hard work and numerous member changes, the original line up had taken shape, thus Azriel's Curse was born. By early 2006 Dan and Chris had welcomed Drummer Mike Le Prieur, Mitch Papizzo on Bass, and Josh Jeffery on Vocals. After 5 months of playing shows locally and recording one demo cd, they set out on their first small tour of Ontario and Quebec in the summer of '06.
After the tour and much discussion Josh was asked to leave the band. After only 3 weeks of auditions Azriel's Curse had picked their new frontman, Anthony Mlekuz. They immediately began hitting the road every weekend, playing for their fanbase, and branching out into new and uncharted territory. By February the band couldn't wait to record their new and improved sound, and spent just over a week recording at Mastermind Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. Since the release of the 3 song EP, they have received an overwhelming response from the music industry, and fans alike.
Azriel's Curse have battled through many hardships, which has lead to a strong brother-hood between all five members. They have learned it is important to keep a strong focus on working hard, while still having a great time together. With a full West Coast tour of Canada booked for the summer, and plans to choose a label to call home, Azriel's Curse are definately a band to keep your eye on.
