Takedown Records *Money Fights coming soon!*

About Me

We're in full swing now baby! Full roster with a wide variety of sick sick bands that will please every crowd, a few releases coming up slated to be out late summer/fall 2007, launch tour is being booked and we're growing more and more every day
Takedown Records is owned, operated and brewed in Atlantic Canada where the help and support for the underground scene is non existant. We aim to help the little man and expose the amazing music that we have not only here but straight across Canada
We appreciate all the awesome feedback we're getting along with the negative. Haters point out where your flaws are in your hard work just so you can fix them, succeed and end up having the last laugh. So thanks for that! But all in all 99% of all comments, messages, emails and phone calls are all positive
Some FAQ's about Takedown Records. Hopefully this will help if you are planning on emailing, calling or messaging us with any questions
Q - Will you "sign" my band?
A - Maybe. Maybe not. Send us a press kit to: Takedown Records 3123 Ralston Ave Halifax, NS B3L-4A5
*****SERIOUS SUBMISSIONS ONLY PLEASE***** Talk to your band and do and out and out gut check by everyone involved before contacting us.
Q - If my band works with you will you buy us a van? Get us a trailor? Pay for our merch? Get us on events like Warped Tour, Hellfest and all these other crazy shows? Have us tour with big bands at sold out arenas?
A - No. We are an indie label. If you expect things like that, chances are you are a little bit of a better band then to be asking an independant record label from Atlantic Canada for a spot on their roster. The bands we work with are awesome and they work just as hard to promote this company as we do to get their music in stores, in front of crowds, and the list goes on
Q - If you wont do all these worldly things for my band if we worked with you, what will you do?
A - We do lots things that help our bands. We offer them things like amazing hook up's on merch, recording, cd production, etc. We offer them promotional material such as posters, stickers, handbills, banners, etc. We book them shows and tours. We work to get their name everywheres so people know they are the face of Takedown Records. We have clothing sponsors in place that we work with so our bands are endorsed by these companies as well. We work to get their cd's in stores and available to people outside of catching them at shows. The list keeps growing everyday
Q - My band is having a hard time finding people to do our merch, recording and cd production. Can you help me find some places that can do all this?
A - Yes. Get in touch with us
Q - Will you cover any of these costs for us because we are broke like every other band?
A - Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on a lot of things. Get in touch with us
Q - My band works hard and wants to tour. Can you book it for us please?
A - Sure can. We also offer printing options for bands who want promo material done up
Q - Will you book it all for free?
A - No. Every booking agency and booking agent charges. Get in touch with us and we can give you a quote. We have 2 bookers on the east coast as well as 2 bookers in Central Canada. Between the 4 of us, we can put together a slamming tour schedule. Of course there are alot of factors to take into consideration so please get in touch with us to discuss it. We have no problems eating the headaches and stress of booking a tour as every band knows it is 9 times out of 10 a hassle. Basically, you book with us and all you have to do is check in once a week to see how we're making out. Simple as that
Q - I hear you put on shows in certain areas. Is this true
A - Yes. All over the Maritimes to be exact
Q - Do you think that this will cause troubles with promoters for "raiding their turf"?
A - Not at all. Takedown Records was started to bring the east coast of Canada together a little bit more and to look at it as a community of people who all have the same love and desire for music. We have the persona of being a part of the country where its all just fiddles, acoustic guitar and some accordian. Much to the contrary, Atlantic Canada houses ALOT of sick bands and musicians. So to go back to the question at hand, promoters have the option to work with or work against a worthwhile cause to beefen up our scene and get it back to where it used to be when a punk band, metal band, hip hop act and alternative band could all get together on one bill and pack a venue wall to wall the way it could be done a bunch of years ago. Before shows are set up in each town, promoters are always given the chance to work with us to put on a show that will leave people wanting more. They then have the option to ignore the request, reject the request or work with us. If we can put on shows and make one die hard punk rock fan watch a metalcore band (or vice versa) and say "hollllllyyyy shit they were good. They wrote awesome music and they performed it well", our job is JUST ABOUT done. Explosive and amazing bands/acts come in all different genres and at all different levels of being a musician
Q - I hear you are currently looking to open a small venue in the HRM somewheres. Is this true?
A - Yes. It will come in time. Its being worked at now
Q - If you open this venue, can my band play at it?
A - Yes. There is too much picking and choosing of what bands will play certain venues. Because they dont swing their guitars and scream or they play something a little different does not mean that said band can't be given the same opportunities as one that goes out and kicks their own asses on stage
Q - I hear you are going to be working on bringing some bigger name bands to the east coast. Is that not in fact the job of a promoter or production company?
A- Read the above section about working with promoters. Yes we are working on bringing some wicked shows to Atlantic Canada a few times throughout the year and of course priority will be given to promoters and production companies because we simply do not want to get into that area of the industry. However, touching on the "community" topic that was brought up at the beginning, if you dont want to work with or support the locals (other then friends bands or you just dont feel like allowing other bands opportunities) dont go for the gusto and attempt to achieve it through us. We have a few in the works to be solidified over the next year so definitely keep your eyes peeled for these ones!
Hopefully that will help in bringing to light some of the services we offer bands as well as some other things we have targeted to do on a regular basis throughout our first year of start up and expansion period. Keep your eyes peeled to this site as well as all the bands individual sites for updates and all the going's on's.
