Live and let live!

About Me

I was born on a cloudy morning in Houston, Texas quite a few moons ago. I don't remember much that day, but I've been told I was very cute. Who am I to argue with that?I'm a big ole nerd. I'm fairly clumsy. I am easily amused. I say "like" more than I would like to admit. I like driving in my little car to no particular place, but I hate traffic. Go figure! You can currently find me in South Texas. There's nothing but palm trees and humidity here, but alas it's been home for a number of years.I have roughly 135 kids. Yes, I know many women in South Texas do, but I have a legitimate reason. See, I teach social studies. Some days I love them but mostly um not. Don't tell them though, as they seem to be EVERYWHERE ;).They say the typical symptoms of stress are: eating too much, impluse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That is my idea of a perfect day.

My Interests

I enjoy traveling...Wish I could afford to do more of it. In typical female mode, I must admit I love shopping. I wish I could afford to do more of it. I guess if I shopped less I could travel more. I like reading, but I don't do it as often I as I should. I love museums...I wish I could work in one. Anything dealing with Latin American history really makes my eyes widen. I enjoy learning and *gasps* yes teaching too.

I'd like to meet:

People who are open-minded, non-judgemental and intelligent. I would have a heart attack if I ever met Michelle Bachelet, the President of Chile. She is A*W*E*S*O*M*E.

Music:

I've recently become obsessed with U2. I don't know how or why, but I truly believe they are music perfection. Where was I before and how come I didn't love them all this time? Yeah, they rock. :D Other honorable mentions: Pepe Aguilar (am I Mexican or what?), Rage Against the Machine, Coldplay, Joss Stone, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Mana, Michael Buble, Shakira (in Spanish)...I find most music worth listening except Rap and Country.

Movies:

"Amelie," "While you were Sleeping." "Clueless," "The Wedding Singer" "The Notebook" and any type of horror. The cheesier, the better! :D

Television:

Recently I've become hooked to "Forensic Files," yes as if I wasn't weird enough...On a more "normal" scale, I adore "Sex and the City" "The Daily Show" "Friends" "General Hospital" (thank you Soapnent!) and of course, my favorite 6'1" orange haired Irish boy, Conan. (whenever I don't fall asleep at 10).I'm quite enjoying "Ugly Betty." America is a darling.

Books:

Anything by Jane Austen, Sandra Cisneros, Beverly Cleary. My favorite all time book is "Pride and Prejudice." There simply isn't a more romantic novel than that...Pure romantic perfection *sighs*. I like fiction, but I also enjoy reading a good historical account.

Heroes:

The strongest person I know by far is my mother. She truly is an inspiration. Forgiving, loving, patient and kind the woman is beyond amazing. Love her. Besides my momma I have to say Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, Eleanor Roosevelt, Michelle Bachelet among others are examples of people making a difference in their socities. We should all take their example.

"The Break-Up"

I went to see the "Break-Up" with my friend last night. I really enjoyed it. At first I thought it would be a straight-forward comedy about what happens when a couple decides to split, but it was mor...
