I mostly like expressive stuff -- movies, music, art -- and tend to gravitate toward satirical and somewhat dark humor - shows through my appreciation for Kevin Smith / Stanley Kubrick / Quentin Tarantino films.
With that, I'm just plain ordinary Katie.
Creating stuff is something i really like doing too -- it plays into my love of expression. I mostly prefer drawing. So far it's my favorite medium, but I've painted with oils and acrylics, worked with black and white 35mm photography / lithgraphs / woodcut / silkscreens / linoleum reduction, and I'm currently working with ceramics and sculpture.

I spend a lot of time thinking and forming crazy philosophical ideas about life, I use them in my artwork sometimes.
I always daydream of what i'd "like" to do one day.
I love discussing movies, music and ideas with people.
I have my own weird little quirks, like the tiniest of hang-ups... that's probably why i never get real haircuts.
I dont like moving my "organized" clutter around in my room very much, because it alters my own small atmosphere
Some people know that I still sleep with my babysheet
I actually wrote an essay about it in English 101.
I grew up obsessed with the discovery channel and animal planet, and love natural stuff and animals.
I used to have pygmy goats
I dont mind holding lizards, snakes, and all those non-cuddly animals like some silly people.
I used to admire Steve Irwin, and wanted to be like him growing up and have my own zoo
I have a great big dog named Earl who scares the shit out of new friends... hehe.
I hold pretty strong grounds on environmental issues too, so im a 'bit of' a tree-hugger. (9-09-07)
My favorite person, Chris.
Usually i enjoy talking to anyone who has similar interests as me -- ie movies, music, etc. I've already met the guy for me though ;)
...as for anyone else.. that's a tuffy- I'm willing to hang out with anyone who i shall dub uncool... for uncool is the new cool you see. It's all complicated really...
You Are a Dreaming Soul
Your vivid emotions and imagination take you away from this world
So much so that you tend to live in your head most of the time
You have great dreams and ambitions that could be the envy of all...
But for you, following through with your dreams is a bit difficult
You are charming, endearing, and people tend to love you.
Forgiving and tolerant, you see the world through rose colored glasses.
Underneath it all, you have a ton of passion that you hide from others.
Always hopeful, you tend to expect positive outcomes in your life.
Souls you are most compatible with: Newborn Soul, Prophet Soul, and Traveler Soul
What Kind of Soul Are You?..
a little bit of music i'm into:
Two-guy blues rock band... The Black Keys
Uncle Tupelo spawned a whole host of new groups in a small sub-genre of alternative country - this generally includes a lot of punk influence - DEFINITELY a style worth checking out.
Another group, Wilco (composed of Jeff Tweedy and the rest of Uncle Tupelo, but without Jay Farrar) has released an amazing album called A Ghost is Born. I highly recommend this album to anyone with an open mind in music. The opening song is very Neil Young-ish, track 5 is very Beatle-esque, and all of it in between has a very earthy tone (hence the country influence).
Similar artists.. Lucero - they have an eclectic mix of styles as well (of course the genre itself is interesting and relatively new). I came across a cool review the other day that describes in great detail the album of theirs, That Much Further West, song-for-song:
http://punknews.org/reviews.php?op=albumreview&id=2891
- from the end of the review:
For those of you with open ears and minds, this is a great listen. All those nu-emo and "pop punk" bands will really have something to cry about once they hear this record and realize that four guys from Tennessee elicit more emotion than their crappy bands ever will.
. . . couldnt have put that better myself :)
The other day my brother brought something to my attention. He made the point that, unlike Spielberg films, "Scorsese, Kubrick and Tarantino will dazzle you... but they'll never make you cry." We were comparing the directors' ways of emphasizing the "bad" in people, without inherently making them unlikable. His point though was that Spielberg can make you cry at every turn - taking Saving Private Ryan as an example and it's closing scene with an aged Matt Damon; "who wouldnt get a little misty-eyed at that?" he asked. Good point. I dont think anyone could cry at Taxi Driver or Pulp Fiction- it's all more dark and shocking than emotion-bound. Yet another example of bright and happy vs. dark and sinister . . . -sighs-
