My Interests

Music:

I'm into a few styles of music: Classical, Showtunes, Movie Scores, Choral, Jazz, Pop, and Rock. I guess I'd have to say that Rock is my musical passion, and I'm specifically really into the the sub-genres Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal, and Progressive Metal and some punk) My favorite rock bands would probably be Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, Ayreon, The Beatles, Rush, Yes, Genesis, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Porcupine Tree, Coldplay, Queen, Boston, and Styx Yeah... and many more... but as I said earlier... lists are kind of boring, and I probably should have stopped a few bands ago... so moving on... My favorite jazz music is taken from the soundtrack of the anime Cowboy Bebop My favorite piece of choral literature is Waternight by Eric Whitacre, and my favorite piece of classical music (which I guess is actully from the romantic era now that I think of it...) is The New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak. My favorite movie score is taken from the Star Wars Movies, composed by John Williams, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by Howard Shore. My favorite musicals are Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, and Into the Woods Well... the concludes my music rant... luckily for the reader I'm not quite as zealous about my other interests so hopefully I won't rant at length like this again. Moving right along...

Movies:

My favorite movies tend to come in trilogies,The Stars Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Back to the Future trilogies are three of my favorite... hmmm... three trilogies... kind of lame... and the Indiana Jones Trilogy is good too... there we go... four. I also really like the movie Plesentville... kind of a random outlier, but oh well.

Television:

I honestly watch very little T.V. The only time I find myself watching T.V. is in group events where someone has brought a Family Guy DVD to watch, which is awesome... I really think is one of, if not the funiest show I've ever seen. Little ashamed of some of the horrible and taboo humor I laugh at... but then again... I guess that's kind of my thing. I also really like The Simpsons in its glory seasons (Earlier Episodes are average and the new ones are embarrasingly terrible) I would have to say though my favorite T.V. show of all time would have to be the Japanise Anime Cowboy Bebop (Don't laugh... well... ok... you can laugh... just not too hard...) Nothing compares with that show for me in terms of emotional impact, awesome character development, and probably the best musical score that a T.V. show has ever had! Yeah... like i said before, I honestly watch very little T.V, or at least up until recently. The invenetion of whole seasons of T.V. shows on D.V.D. is kind of changing that for me. I referenced that about family guy above, but more recently I've seen... pretty much all of Sex and the City with my girlfriend. So yeah... if you weren't laughing about Cowboy Bebop you can laugh about this... but I don't care, they are both good shows!! Recently I've also been watching HBO original series, and they blow pretty much everything else out of the water. Six Feet Under is the most amazing show I've ever seen in my life... truely impacting... it truely helped me see the value of life, and the need to live each day to the fullest... plus it's a really funny and enjoyable show. If you have not seen Six Feet Under I seriously recommend you go rent the first season today!! (P.S. Sopranos and 24 are good too.)

Books:

Well, first off I'd have to say The Bible is the most important book in my life. Granted I don't fully understand it. There is also some Christian literature I have read that has been quite influencal, the most notable being The Gospel According to Moses and The Jesus I Never Knew. They are very influencal to the way I try to live my life. Moving on to fiction I am a really big fan of the Star Wars extended universe as told by a series of novels I've read. Long lists are somewhat boring so I'll just say my favorite book written in the Star Wars universe was probably Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire which was the first in, you guessed it, another trilogy of books. Another science fiction book series I've more recently discovered and really enjoyed iis that of Orson Scott Card's Ender Series, Enders Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind This is probably the best book series I've ever read, I highly recommend it, along with anything else on here (I would obviously say that being I like all this stuff) One more auther I've found myself really liking the stories of is Dan Brown. Angels and Demons and The DeVinchi Code are both quite awesome books!
