About Me

I was born in Garland, grew up in Arlington and currently live in Irving...I just can't seem to get out of Texas. I almost moved to Rhode Island (where my husband is from), but backed out when I started realizing how much I love this place, regardless of how much I complain about it.I've done a little bit of everything...waitress, executive assistant, artist, model, makeup artist...but currently work as a bartender. It's not glamorous, but it's fun, stress-free and the money's good. I'm just getting too old to be stuck in a job that I hate. Plus I work nights, so I'm free to spend the days with my two kids, Jack (9) and London (8). My husband of nine years (http://www.myspace.com/shellysman)isn't crazy about it since we don't see each other that much, but we try to make the most of the time that we have together.Now I'm working on getting my artwork out. I'm pretty much whoring myself out to anyone who needs some artwork, regardless of the type. Between my regular job and sketching, networking and web stuff, I'm pretty exhausted, but I know it will pay off someday. I've got a couple of graphic novels in progress, but again, trying to find time to work on them is the tough part. My Interests

I am very artsy and a big nerd. I love museums, book stores, independent films. On the other hand, give me a drink or two and I'm all party girl. Clubs, concerts, bars, karaoke...blah blah blah. I'm always up for trying new things, whether it's an event or food or whatever.

I'd like to meet:

People who are less boring than I am. :)I would love to become reaquainted with some old friends, but I am always up to meeting new people. I'd love to meet other artists who can help me when I'm not feeling so creative. I like people who are open-minded and non-judgemental. You can't take me too seriously and you definitely need to have a sense of humor (even though I've been told that I don't have one).If you're looking for someone with whom to discuss politics and religion, please don't contact me. I don't believe in either one ;)

Scrubs, ER, One Life to Live, America's Next Top Model, American Idol...I'm a reality TV junkie

Books:

Harry Potter, Anne Rice, Stephen King...although I love reading things by authors I've never heard of...if it's good, I feel like I'm finding hidden treasure. Come to think of it, I haven't read a really good book in a while. So many have been terribly disappointing. I'll gladly take any recommendations :)
