I really don't feel comfortable that we as a collective identify so strongly with "heroes". We should be valued by who we are rather than by what we do. My feeling is that many of us identify with heroes for their accomplishments. This point is reinforced by the fact that everyone on this site has "heroes" that are celebrities/entertainers/socialites etc... They have all done something to acquire this status in your minds. The problem with this is that it limits your own sense of Love for yourself. Accomplishments are finite. At some point the list will end and it is here where your scope of Love is reflected back at you.The path to this Love for our "heroes" and even our "partners" is never an external one. However good or bad you feel about your boyfriend/girlfriend or people you look up to is always a mirror of who you are within yourself. In this sense and I am speaking to all you couples right now, the person you are with is the "right" one for you...now. When you struggle with your partner, you struggle with yourself. When you love your heroes, you are loving yourself. For every fault you see in another is touching a denied weakness within yourself. This path to love clarifies the mistake that someone"out there" will make or take something that is not already yours. When you love "heroes", you are really loving yourselfs.
