About Me

My Interests

getting homesick, reading, seeing live music, making wilson phillips videos on the beach with margaret and chelsea, hanging with my dog, cooking, making my friends get awful hangovers, laughing - probably at you

I'd like to meet:

people margaret likes, somebody who will clean up after me since margaret is too far away (seriously, i need a full-time maid), dirty boys - at least that's what margaret wrote on the wall of the bathroom in the brighton bar. and somebody who will sell me a henry faulkner painting really cheap. actually, that one's on the top of my list right now.people who won't break my wine glasses.and a babysitter. not just for when i'm grilling, i think i need somebody full-time. and i also need somebody to keep track of all the places that i hide stuff from myself.and most importantly, if i don't know you i don't want to be your friend. i don't care how good your band is or how hot or funny you think you are.

Music:

ah, so much. johnny cash, elvis (presley and costello), jesus and mary chain, smokey robinson, BRMC, the yeah yeah yeahs, the ravonettes, the beatles, chuck berry, beck, willie nelson, bob dylan, sunny day real estate, ray charles, elliott smith, the flaming lips, cat power, the kinks, the greenhornes, bowie, the sex pistols, 13th floor elevators, richard hell and the voidoids, the velvet underground, andre williams, the rolling stones, patsy cline, the new pornographers, neko case, roy orbison, television, the mamas and papas, leonard cohen, international noise conspiracy, 60s garage punk compilations like garage punk unkowns and teenage shutdown and back from the grave, bad brains, hank williams sr, nancy sinatra, fugazi, the monks, the pixies, the ramones, the soundtrack of our lives, the zombies, hot snakes, lungfish, superchunk, t rex, sonic youth, veruca salt, stan getz, astrud gilberto, joao gilberto, new york dolls, the cramps, louis armstrong, mc5, the clash, les breastfeeders, le nombre, the ribeye brothers, the butterflies of love, lord sterling, miss tk and the revenge

Movies:

buffalo 66, napoleon dynamite, office space, dead man, sunset boulevard, charade, zoolander, what's eating gilbert grape, bottlerocket... i usually fall asleep watching movies anyway..

Television:

besides the simpsons, family guy, arrested development and law and order? QVC when kerry is on. whatever shitty tv shows margaret puts on when we're on her couch hanging over - usually something especially bad like gastineau girls, project runway, blind date, reruns of love connection... that kind of crap (and that's why i don't have cable)

Books:

are you there god? it's me, margaret, confederacy of dunces, vonnegut, tom robbins, anything by mark twain but especially huckleberry finn, chuck palahniuk, wuthering heights, the great gatsby, the stranger, david sedaris, state by state with the state, america the book, christopher moore, hemmingway, nabakov, joesph heller, and a few authors who have recently proven to be frauds.

Heroes:

stalin, hitler, george w and of course margaret

My Blog

My freak magnet needs an off switch

I admit that many times it's my fault - that somehow or another I put myself in situations where the craziest person in a place comes up and talks to me. This, however, was not one of those situations...

My dog hates me

I swear he's mad at me and did this purposely. Last night I came home from work and threw on sweats to walk the dog. I grabbed a hooded sweatshirt from the laundry basket. We walked around the corner ...

The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry...

It sounded like a great idea. Don't let Saturday night turn into "one of those nights" and instead get up early Sunday and head south for a long hike and then a swim at Danijela's pool. We looked up a...

My Bloody Valentine

You learn something new every day

And what I learned yesterday is that the appropriate response to "Let me get you a drink, what are you having?" is not to spit your wine on the bar and say "Holy shit, you're Marky Mark". Even if it i...
