Beatfreax was founded In 1996 as a producers duo consisting of Martijn Mulder and Ruben van den Heuvel. This name was picked because they were both crazy about rhythm and percussion and tried to put them as prominent as possible in their productions. In the period of 1996 / 1997 they released several records on the labels Bubblegum (Patty Boom), Walnut (Combined Forces) and Module (Combined Forces), ranging from minimal club tracks to remixes of the well known label Strictly Rhythm.
To empower their productions they set up the Beatfreax website, where you could find biographies, discographies and pictures of the duo. When they both got too busy to continue producing, Ruben kept the website to publish his photos, reports and adventures in party land.
Since 1997 the site has developed into one of the most leading platforms for dance-lovers from the Netherlands, also pulling visitors from countries like Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Finland and Poland.
