2BUB

2BUB is a real stage band. The repertory contains pleasant emopop and firm rock music. Strong melodies, which are surprising in every song, well-formed polyphonic singing and solid guitar parts interchange and complement one and other. They play their music with dedication, electrically al well as acoustically.
The brothers Dennis de Kok en Barry de Kok, respectively singer and guitarist, started playing acoustic covers back in 1997. In a while, together with bass player Gideon Willems, a base was founded for a solid band with their own repertory.
In 2000 Tjeerd Faber joins the three and takes care of rhythmical guidance with drums and other instruments of percussion. Though, a switch to the drum set was made in a short period of time. The enthusiasm of the band results in an acoustic recording session, which brought their first demo Joypiece, printed in limited copies.
In 2001 2BUB searched for a more complete sound and more diversity in their songs. A second guitarist was a logical step. With the entrance of Emiel de Cocq the present structure of the band is a fact.
2002 is the year in which 2BUB appears on stage with acoustic as well as electrical performances. The band made progression by several live performances in the local area and reached the final of the Panta Rhei Unplugged competition in the south of the country. In the fall, recordings were made for a new demo. The four songs on this demo ‘HYPE’ appeal to be easy on the ear and give a realistic overview of their work until that time.
2BUB fully developed into a stage band in 2003 by regular performances and the participation in several talent competitions. The five played the finals of MuXiU Night Live and brought their music on stages of the Join Popprijs and Podium Enjoi. At Podium Enjoi in Delft, 2BUB wins convincingly with a unanimous verdict of the jury. The first video clip was shot of the song ‘Needing’, but the good review of their demo ‘HYPE’ in estimated music magazine OOR, really makes the year:
"This group knows strong melodies, well-formed part-singing and a clever electrical guitar solo in Reflected... In the proper build-up conclusional piece Same Old Story the five show they are not afraid to travel less paved roads. At those moments 2BUB proves to have great potential." (OOR nr. 16, August 9, 2003)
Besides that the band will cooperate on the soundtrack of the Dutch thriller / horror movie ‘Horizonica’, a project with international character and around 1200 volunteers.
‘2nd’, contains the heavier material. This record is released at the end of 2006, a rough year for the band in wich bass player Gideon chooses for his family and moves to Denmark. A new bass player is fond in the person of Jurren Mekking and 2BUB will be back on full strength in 2007.
