In 1995, water sportsmen in Maui were getting big laughs from several individuals who were trying to make a serious go of the first air inflatable kites brought to the US from France. They were laughing at us. Shortly after we began importing air inflatable kites, the bars and accessories not only didn’t function very well, but were entirely unsafe.Airush was born out of this necessity and began building the premier line of kite bars and accessories, which continues today. We have been involved with kiteboarding since it's inception on Maui in 1995. In 1999, Airush teamed up with Star-board to begin making a premier line of boards and in 2002 Airush completed it’s product line with the introduction of the Lift and ATV kites. Prior to that most of our employees were and continue to be involved in windsurfing and other water sports, as competitors, retailers and product designers.Wind and water remain the focal point of the company and our personal lives. When not at their desks you'll find employees surfing the local breaks, windsurfing at Kanaha, kayaking on the south shore and definitely kiteboarding down at Kite Beach.We are all of different abilities and riding styles . . . but what brings us together is our huge passion for kiteboarding, which we hope to share with you.
