Sometimes the loneliest road can be the greatest journey, and learning to stand on your own two feet

About Me

I'm unlike anyone you've ever met. I'm unlike anyone you'll ever meet.
I'm interested in people who are unlike anyone I've ever met, and unlike anyone else I'll ever meet.
I've learned that hard work pays off. I've learned that sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I've learned that most things in life are possible. I've learned that growing older is a state of mind. I've also learned that growing older is a state of beauty. But I've learned there is nothing more beautiful than maintaining a youthful heart.
I've learned that life moves on. I've learned that it will not wait for you to be ready. I've learned that people will come and go in life. I've learned that people will move on. And I've learned that only time can heal.
"Bad news comes. Don't you worry, even when it lands. Good news will work its way to all them plans."
Be nice to people. And God bless.
My professions:
My degree(s) are in journalism, but I consider myself a jack-of-all-trades.
I recently served as executive producer, writer, and host for an alternative music show I created called "The Set." It was very hard work, but it was also a labor of love. They say that in television, you're only as good as the people surrounding you. I'm happy to say that I worked with many, many very talented people, and they have all sprung new life into me. And for that, I thank each and every one of them.
Currently, I'm a graduate assistant for the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, helping out in the broadcasting and electronic media department.
More specifically, I am developing a station policy manual for the college broadcast channel, TV4OU, as well as serving as a teaching assistant for the college's video and television production courses.
I've never considered myself above average. I believe that I'm just another ordinary guy. However, I've always given my all to any job I've ever had, whether it was producing television or sweeping cigarette butts off a Homeland parking lot on Sunday mornings. With that said, I've had a lot of success with the various positions I've held over the years. And no one ever said you had to be extraordinary for that.
Your work does not define who you are, but your work ethic speaks volumes on your character. Working hard is something I take pride in, and it's gotten me where I am today. I believe in luck, but my career path is a direct result of hard work, perseverance, determination, and a will to be the best. Nothing has ever been handed to me, professionally, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Current projects:
I'm also working on several broadcast projects for the upcoming months:
First and foremost, I'm going to serve as producer and host for a television show/video podcast for World's Fair. I'm hoping to have this off the ground in the near future. To learn more about World's Fair, please visit www.worlds-fair.net.
Secondly, I am going to be developing content for the Oklahoma Creativity Project. The concept will be officially launched in 2008, and I'm very excited to be a part of something that will take Oklahoma arts promotion to the next level. To learn more about Creative Oklahoma, please visit www.stateofcreativity.com .
Finally, and perhaps more importantly, I am developing a pilot episode for what will hopefully be a future television series in Oklahoma and/or the surrounding regions. In addition to the episode, I will develop a marketing/business strategy to help me with this cause. The entire project will earn me my long-awaited master's degree.
The Set:
The Set is a new television show I started back in December of 2006. The idea came to me in late November when I realized that I missed the thrill of producing, writing, and hosting an entertainment television show.
The Set features the most promising acts from the rising Oklahoma music scene. Artists from Norman, Stillwater, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City stop by The Set for in-studio interviews and performances, giving the viewer and intimate look at the stories behind themselves and their music.
The Set can be seen on the TV4OU/mtvU station on Cox Channel 4 in Norman and parts of Moore, Oklahoma. If you don't live in those areas, you can now catch the show streaming online.

Going the distance (or, the definition of winning)...

As the film "Rocky Balboa" has shown, it's never too late to win. Now before you roll your eyes over the fact that I used a fictitious movie character as an anchor for my blog, think about it in con...

Was it all in my own head?

If you're like me, you occasionally feel the need to change your MySpace profile. And the reasons for this vary. Perhaps you want others to hear a favorite song of yours. Or, you may be OC a...
