Montreal born and bred MC Bless has spent almost his entire life surrounded by hip-hop whether it was break dancing by age 8 or demoing songs in the studio by 12. At the young age of 23 he is of a generation that is old enough to respect the history, but has an eye towards becoming the future.By the time he was 16, Bless was already garnering a reputation as being a battle MC in and around Montreal who could stand toe to toe with anyone, appearing on radio shows and jumping on any stage with an open mic, taking on some of the cities seasoned vets. It wasnt too long after that he was feeling like a fish that was too big for Montreals pond.He headed to New York where a few good connections lead him to doing tracks with such famed producers as DJ Lethal (House Of Pain, Limp bizkit) and Rahiem (Grandmaster Flash). But it was at the famed Rock Steady Crews 25th Anniversary where a chance meeting with the legendary Guru of Gangstarr started to get the ball rolling. Within days they were in the studio laying down what would become Never Ending Saga for Gurus Baldhead Slick album that also featured the likes of Ice-T, Killa Priest, DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Bless toured this album as Gurus hype man and got to see the world in turn.Upon their return Bless began work on his debut 12 for Gurus Ill Kid imprint, which was famed for underground classics by Bahamida and Group Home. The result was Talkin to Me which featured Guru and peaked at ..6 on the underground hip-hop chart in the U.S. Bless decided it was time to take things into his own hands and started the Platinumberg imprint, which boasts a roster of his cohorts. Platinumbergs first release was Platinumberg: The Movement (DKD Group/EMI) a compilation featuring Afu-Ra, Mr. Wiggles (Rock Steady Crew), Guru, as well as Platinumberg artists T.F.S. and Dexter D.The album received critical acclaim; (This is the most important rap CD to emerge from Canada Montreal Gazette) as well as charting on many top 10 campus and indie charts. The album also spawned 3 singles (My Time, Against The Grain and What Ya Gon Do), all 3 peaked on MuchMusic Rapcitys top 5. My time was also featured in ESPNs football drama Playmakers. Bless also toured the album extensively, linking up with Obie Trice, Beatnuts, De La Soul and Gangstarr. Most recently he hooked up with Lloyd Banks on his Hunger For More Canadian tour, playing to sold out venues across the country.Bless has also made history as being the first Canadian artist to have a full character in a Def Jam video game - Def Jam Fight for New York (released September 21, 2004) which has already sold over 3,000,000 copies. The game features Bless alongside hip-hops biggest stars such as Snoop, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe and Sean Paul. Two of his songs are also featured on the soundtrack.On November 1st, 2005, Bless released his debut solo album The Book of Bless which includes guest appearances by Rah Digga of Flipmode, Cappadonna of Wu-Tang, JR Writer of Dipset, Planet Asia and Tony Touch. The video for the first single Jealousy, featuring Rah Digga of Flipmode, got medium to high rotation at Much Music and its various affiliates.Bless most recently won three awards at the MU Underground Awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Collaboration of the Year for Jealousy. He is also preparing to release a new mix CD Hustle Hard Vol. 1 hosted by Clinton Sparks with exclusive tracks featuring Twista, Tupac and many more!
