This Waiting Game

About Me

If anyone actually still checks this. This Waiting Game is no more. Four of the five of us have moved to universities across England, and there was no way for the band to continue as a group.
It was a hugely uplifting experience for all of us. Creating and playing music with your best friends is an amazing thing and it's very sad to have to call it a day.
We all owe a huge thanks to everyone who contributed something towards the band, it just wouldn't have happened without support from others. Thanks to the venues that we were lucky enough to play in. Thanks to the bands we were lucky enough to play with. Thanks to everyone who came to our gigs and showed their support. Special thanks to our close friends and close bands who we've had the pleasure of sharing our experiences with.
We live in a world where musical genres are changing and adapting faster than ever before. Pioneering a new genre has come down to manipulating existing genres into a previously unheard sound.
Within this world, This Waiting Game wandered the streets, combining solid post-hardcore roots with an alternative edge branching from each member's individuality and creativity. The band touched on styles they saw fit, producing a continually developing style of their own that proved difficult to place in the musical spectrum.
Pulling at the strings of conspiracy, Government, politics, martyrdom and socio-economic issues, the band's somewhat cryptic lyrical content was largely influenced simply by the world around them. Written primarily by Cook and Budden, the songs seeked to encourage listeners to look further into issues previously taken for granted, piercing through the sheet that covers any deeper corruption and conspiracy.
2004 saw the very first hint of This Waiting Game, with a traditional teenage rock band consisting of Ed, Matt and Lucas. Although slow-paced, the trio had a solid social connection that bound the three together tighter than any musical adhesive. October of 2005 saw Ed return to his musical roots and take up second guitar alongside Matt. Drumming was taken up by Nath Coates, who had previously drummed with Ed in an earlier band. The band sought a fuller overall sound and a second guitar provided a deeper musical presence.
However, as deep as musical presences go, the band realised that recruiting a lead vocalist would be the only way of concentrating fully on their respective instruments. March of 2006 marks the completion of the full five-piece outfit through the joining of Pete Cook.
From then on the band simply grew and developed together as a group, constantly writing new material and sharing their music with audiences across the local live scene. October 2007 saw four of the five members leaving home to study in different universities all over England, leaving no chance for the band to fully continue.
