in case any of you are a little miffed about my headline, the word 'mumbles' does not refer to a speech impediment but to a quaint little fishing village on the gower coast, south wales, in which i was raised. its name derives from the viking word meaning breasts 'mwmelles' since the headland echoes the silhouette of those two very familiar feminine curves. if you ever needed an excuse to visit the beautiful area and its glorious beaches, then i suggest you do so, even if it is only for the simple fact that it was named after a pair of breasts.....................................................

..then there's the notorious 'mumbles mile' which is a stretch of promenade made up of pubs and bars in which, to say you have truly 'done the mile', you need to have a pint in each. needless to say i have attempted it on many occasions and i highly recommend giving it a go, just make sure you have everything you need the next morning to cure you from the evil reaped by alcohol.....................................................

- swansea bay has the second largest tidal movement IN THE WORLD
- the mumbles train was the WORDL'S FIRST passenger railway

........................................if you hadn't already guessed it, moving 3,000 miles away from home has left me with a touch of patriotism. no need to worry though, i make regular calls home to maintain the welsh accent - i won't let those yanks get the better of me! ;)
