The Hoosegow

SKATE ROCK, BUFFET STYLE

About Me

The Hoosegow was created in 2002 when Ty Stranglehold found himself looking for a new project after the dissolution of The Staggers. He picked up Jay Trash on drums and Bri on bass. They jammed a couple of times before getting Big Rick to come in on guitar. Shows were played, beers were consumed... Bri was on to bigger things. The next logical step was to get Glen Bitters to step in to the bass role that he was always meant to fill. The band recorded their debut disc at the legendary Rat's Nest with Gary Brainless at the board. Sweet. The band has more or less taken a yearlong hiatus but that is coming to an end as Stranglehold is moving back to Victoria to begin the mayhem again. A 7 song EP "EAT DRINK SKATE" has just been recorded and a September Western Canada tour has been book with Alcoholic White Trash. In October of 2005, The Hoosegow parted ways with longtime drummer and founding member Jay Trash. The band is currently looking for a suitable replacement but still playing shows will celebrity fill-ins.June 2006. The eternal search for a permanent drummer continues. The band hasn't taken this lying down. After a successful show in Vegas during Punk Rock Bowling in January the band set to work on their new full length disc "Three Rules" which was recorded in May at the Hillside Whorehouse with Toby on the board. The drummer issue was temporarily sorted out when Big Rick's evil twin Vic came out to play the skins. The record is slated for a summer 2006 release in time for the annual tour with Montreal's Ripcordz. The Hoosegow's US drummer Adam Crisis will be flying in for the tour (and staying forever if the rest of the band has anything to say about it!). Come out to the shows!March 2007: The last year has been a whirlwind. Back in the summer of 06 the decision was finally made to make Vic Hurtin the permanent drummer leaving the guitar spot open for young newcomer Matty FreshFish. With the band solidified, The Hoosegow hit the road with The Ripcordz in August (albeit with Big Rick on guitar and Adam Crisis on drums) managing to get stupid in every town along the way. January saw another return trip to Punk Rock Bowling in Vegas (and a gig with Tiltwheel and Radon), and now The Hoosegow is sitting around, eating a lot, and trying to write new songs for a tenative May long weekend recording session.

Yeah, we're still here

The Hoosegow is still rolling along. We rocked out in Vegas at the end of January with our friends Tiltwheel and Radon. It was good. More details on that as we can recall them. Seriously, it was ugly....

The Hoosegow Rides Again!

This Victoria Day Long Weekend marked a new chapter in Hoosegow lore. We spent it holed up in the Hillside Whorehouse churning out what will become our first "official" release... After years of demos...

The Hoose Always Wins

Well we rocked Vegas and lived to tell the tale! The set was sloppy as hell... With the amount of booze ingested I'm surprised we could stand, let alone play. Adam Crisis is fuckin stellar on the skin...
