Naia Kete

I have been writing songs and playing music for as long as I can remeber. One of my favorite pictures of myself is a picture of me when I was about 1 singing into a mic for the first time. I grew up and am growing up in a family of performing artists. My favortie thing is to sing and play my guitar, but i love to dance, play piano, bass, drums, beatbox, and act. I have been influneced and inspired mostly by my family and friends, but I also gain inspiration from ALL of life's experiences. Whether they are good or bad, there is always something to learn from them. When I was younger, my brother Imani, my cousin Isaiah all had a band called Children of the Most High. We would open up for our parents band called Black Rebels, which is an African roots reggae group. The biggest show i ever did with them was at an international music festival in Cape Verde, an isalnd off the west coast of Senegal. Now I am a singer and keyboard player in the band Black Rebels, and my brother is the drummer. However, i never stopped writing my own music, and have been recording some here and there through the years, and little by little I'm trying to get it out there. As I'm growing up and becoming more indepenent, I'm slowly becoming more and more ready to do my own thing. I'm still learning about myself, and where I stand in the music world and industry, but no matter what that placement is, I feel soo blessed to be able to have a wonderful gift, which is an intense passion for the arts and musical, political, and spiritual self-expression, and I feel that I am ready to begin sharing that passion with the world...
